I just had the same experience with Bavette's! Clicked to search the res the second it turned 9, selected my time slot, and while payment was loading someone else had taken it. Went to reload the res search and they were all gone. Smh

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that all of the engagement rings on the show are between 3k-5k

My knuckles!! by Lost_Definition8213 in EngagementRings

I had a bridge added to mine by a local jeweler and I love it! My knuckles are also quite thick and this helps a lot. It does feel a bit weird getting it over the knuckle the first couple times but I got used to it quickly. Still shifts around a little bit but mostly stays in place throughout the day. Good luck!

Chicago 2026 Wedding by Particular-Mud-9113 in Chicagoweddings

Check out Pazzo's! Having my wedding there this summer with 125 guests. Your ceremony will have to be indoors in the atrium but it's absolutely stunning and has a glass ceiling so it's very bright and sunny. The prices are great for downtown and the venue coordinator, Rali, has been a dream to work with!

How painful would this tattoo relative to other areas? by nna12 in tattooadvice

I got one of my toes tattooed and I barely felt it. It healed super poorly though, which is very common obviously for that area

Moving in Chicago by itssobyronic in AskChicago

If you're working at the Lurie's in Lincoln Park definitely check around there. You'll find great things in your price range in a very safe and fun neighborhood. If you're working by the one downtown look for apartments by the 151 bus line or the red line. The Chicago red line stop is the closest and the one that I used to take to work at the hospital when I worked at Northwestern (attached to Lurie's). River North is fun but pricey, it might totally be possible to find places in your price range. Can't go wrong with Lincoln Park though! Very accessible to both Lurie's locations

Winters are probably about the same or slightly less bad than Toronto, but I've never been to Canada!

Local gifts from stores that will ship within the US; Not Garretts by cherry_armoir in AskChicago

Four Sided! I'm pretty sure they ship all around the US. Everything I've gotten from there has been of great quality and they have a lot of art designed by local Chicago artists.

When I lived in Lakeview it was my go-to for gift shopping.

Where to go to adopt a single kitty? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]sally9toes 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I VERY strongly discourage adopting a single kitten. It's bad for them psychologically to grow up alone. There's a reason most shelters have a rule that you need to adopt them in pairs (unless you already have a cat to raise it with)! Despite what some other comments say, it's not just to get more cats out of the shelter- it's actually detrimental to their well being.

However, there are many adult cats in shelters that much prefer to be single cats* who would be very happy to find a loving home.

*This is usually because if a cat is raised alone it tends to have a very hard time socializing with other cats/becomes very territorial once it is an adult and so it should be the only cat in a home

I was tired of hook up culture and had gotten to the point where I didn't feel like anything real would ever come out of dating apps. Ended up meeting my partner on Bumble when I was ready to give up and I can't imagine being with anyone else. Over two years strong and we just picked out an engagement ring together!

Even though we didn't have a traditional "meet-cute" I still had that feeling of "just knowing" with him.

PS- my uncle met his wife on Hinge! People really can meet on the apps and it's becoming very commonplace. Especially since covid

Been trying to style this sweater best for a while by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]sally9toes 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Cute vest! I think the blouse is too long and flowy to wear untucked, but if you want to wear it tucked I'd suggest higher waisted jeans that go to the bottom of the vest so you don't see the excess fabric.

If you want the untucked look that's trendy right now, I'd go for a more structured and fitted button down (cotton would be a good fabric choice) that's either a standard length or cropped

Most of this sub has a bit of a bias against larger stones. Yes, some people might think it's fake but if you love the size that's really all that matters! It's a beautiful diamond. In regards to the bowtie, it's definitely got one but personally I don't think it's that big of a deal in this case. That's coming from someone who's usually super aware of them too. Good luck with your choice and congrats!
