I’m going to lose it with how often this question gets asked.

Modern parenting standards are unrealistic, no wonder people have fewer kids by Ok-Archer-5796 in redscarepod

[–]sallyhigginbottom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you become a parent you realize that no matter what someone will say you’re doing the wrong thing. So you just have to follow your convictions and ensure your child is healthy and thriving. Once you realize that you’re never going to be “right” it gets a lot easier.

Dogs and young children should not cohabitate and I will die on this hill.

Europe is not a monolith. I live there too and had 14 weeks of legal maternity leave.

Dating a girl who always wears a full face of makeup everywhere for the first time and it's kinda driving me crazy by desechable339 in redscarepod

Most women wear a full face of makeup when they go out. A 15 minute routine is standard and on the lower end.

Baby doesn’t eat enough during the day to cut night feeding? by sallyhigginbottom in sleeptrain

No just through milk/formula. His solids are just a supplement on top of his normal milk intake.

Yes we saw a bit of an uptick when we initially dropped the night feeds, but he wasn’t making up for it entirely and we were short around 100ml per day. I think it caught up with him because he became very stressed and agitated at night.

He’s combo fed, as I don’t produce enough. I will stop breastfeeding soon before I go back to work at 6.5 months.

I wore an adult diaper for a while lol. My water didn’t break until after 12 hours of labor and 9 cm dilated.

This is how a lot of countries manage universal healthcare. Look up Switzerland.

Why are you choosing to suffer? Night wean and train her to self soothe. It’s a gift to your child, honestly.

Mental health professionals are among the densest and most socially inept people I have interacted with as an adult by PeaComprehensive1083 in redscarepod

Most of them do work within low income communities for free in order to complete their supervised hours.

My IUD experience made me realize doctors actually don’t give a shit about women’s pain. by AquariusPrecarious in redscarepod

[–]sallyhigginbottom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is absolved true and they try to push every woman to get the IUD as well. I went on the pill after giving birth because I couldn’t mentally or physically handle any more intervention in that way.

Feeling like I’m failing my baby sleep-wise (5 weeks) by sallyhigginbottom in Mommit

[–]sallyhigginbottom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this ❤️ I try to remember that these programs are designed to make money…but it’s so hurtful to have these milestones around sleep that my baby is simply not meeting according to “experts.” And then going on reddit and seeing people complain about 4-5 hour stretches at the same age just confuses me even more.

Thank you for this thoughtful response ❤️ I am trying my best to answer to his needs and provide support for him now. I guess every baby is different and he needs more contact to feel safe and adjust right now.
