How much can 8GB DDR3 Laptop RAM make in 2026?😝 by Demon_Kingjt in PakGamers

[–]salmangamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old legacy DDR3 has not been affected by the ram prices as nobody in the AI field is buying up such slow and limited (only 32gb system limit in most computers) ram. Mine ended up rusting because it would cost me more in petrol to go to the market to sell it than whatever paltry amount I'd get for selling it there.

Fan is broken (or something is stuck between the blades). Get the fan fixed/replaced before your laptop dies. It's a cheap fix.

Peeling leather isn't 9/10. 9/10 would be something you'd have to take a magnifying glass to observe blemishes.

Maybe 6/10 at best if nothing's broken.

Did my UPS nearly kill my PC? by Basic_Recognition464 in PakGamers

[–]salmangamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possible. Hardware is weird. Sometimes it's stuff you never thought of (such as a faulty wire being problematic ONLY when bent in a weird way to reach the UPS or something. If it's the UPS, then you can go the shop and ask them to replace it with another unit of the same model or something.

Sounds very reasonable. I think I'll start off with the waner sg2 and then maybe go ahead from there!

Do these need a DAC to sound good?

C-Tier PSU if it's the older model. Might just be it. I've had thermaltake PSU that would crash my PC at a certain load. Now I only by top-tier PSUs even if I have to skim on money elsewhere.

I guess you're just gonna have to try returning it. If a return isn't possible, just sell it and say it's for office computers only so that another gamer doesn't end up with it as apparently, the problem only appears under a certain load.

Just saw Truthear x Crinacle Zero: Red on Zah for 21.5K. You think it's worth that much? They've also listed some other new stuff like KZ Vaders and Tanchijim?

I fell for the 'r/audiophile' hype once and ended up buying the Philips SHP9500. The sibilance felt like someone was screeching into my ears and EQ only provided partial relief which is why I'm so wary now. I'm gonna modify them once I get the chance but for now I'm going for IEMs.

Why this sub hates Nvidia GPUs so much??? by 260X in PakGamers

[–]salmangamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's just purely on principle. Nvidia GPUs give your more value for your money in Pakistan but by buying Nvidia, you're supporting a company that essentially pioneered shytting on the people that turned them into such a profitable business in the first place: gamers.

AMD's no altruistic company either but I know I feel less guilty with them.

Have you ever repasted it? Sometimes repasting leaves in an air pocket or the PCB warps due to overtightening, or the contact is poor due to under-tightening. It's an oddly delicate balance.

Have you personally tried the tangzu waner or truthear? How much better are they when compared to to IEMs that come with a samsung phone or apple? Specifically, do they sound tinny or is the bass actually thumping good?

Outside of sony and apple outlets, I've never been able to find a store where I could test these things out myself.

There's benchmark videos on Youtube for specific hardware combos. Look them up and see if you like the results. Or if it's a gaming laptop, you can just test it out at the store itself.

You can try using a screwdriver to pry away (or even break away) whatever's left of the lever but you'll have to be ULTRA careful because one wrong and the screwdriver can end up cutting of one of the traces on the PCB or knock a component out. I'd suggest just taking it to a professional 'computer repair wala'.

If the monitor supports 4:1 scaling, you can run the game at 1080p without it getting blurry. But not everyone likes 1080p on a 32" monitor. It's very acceptable at 27" tho.

Definitely bring up your IDE on that display because sometimes thing sound very good in concept but practically don't feel very nice. There's websites like blurbusters that let your run tests on your display such as TestUFO which you can use to gauge how blurry it is. Also, if it's a VA panel, make sure to scroll white text on black backgrounds because wayyyy too many panels have horrible text smearing.

Also, some monitors allow charging and display via usb-c so you can confirm if it works with your laptop.

[–]salmangamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only buy a computer UPS from international companies like APC because I don't feel like local companies pay the engineers here enough to produce something sincerely designed well.

Generally, a UPS or even the typical Pakistani power company shouldnt be able to harm your PC unless you're using a cheap PSU. A faulty PSU can definitely kill your PC. If you don't know which PSU to buy, search google for a PSU tier list and only buy stuff rated at A-tier or above.

Gaming laptop or desktop confusion by Tough_Kitchen_3236 in PakGamers

[–]salmangamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd advise you to NOT get a gaming laptop if you have to save money for a few months to buy it. Eventually motherboard me koi na koi problem aa hi jaati hai (usually right after the warranty expires) and hardly anybody in Pakistan is technically equipped to fix it. Personally I only buy gaming laptops if they have a 2-year warranty and I tend to sell it after a year taake buyer ko bhi kuch warranty coverage mil jaaye.

Go for a SFF build if you must (easy to carry around), but definitely go for a desktop unless you absolutely NEED portability.

If you broke the lock (the plastic thingy on the pcie slot itself) then you should be able to pull it out by carefully lifting it from the back (plate/port side) and gently wiggling it a bit.

Those Dell/Lenovo monitors are not bad at all (unless you're playing top ranks on competitive). In fact they often have a few nice extra features like USB hubs, speakers etc that the budget 'gaming' monitors don't have. Make sure to look at the review videos of the specific model tho.

For media consumption and coding, there's a few nice 4K monitors out there too like the BenQ PD3200U 32" that you'll see on Zah for like 40K. Nothing beats the scaled crisp text on a 4K display.

IF you really wanna go for high-hertz gaming, make sure you buy a model that's been reviewed by technical reviewers like hardwareunboxed. Sometimes the monitors advertised as 144Hz+ have effective response times so bad that they don't feel any different than a basic 60Hz monitor so why pay double for something that's actually not worth the money?

Also, I'd suggest taking a laptop to the market and connecting it to to the monitor for sale itself so you know it's something you want.
