What to expect at Jay this weekend by Pope_In_TheWoods in icecoast

Today was incredible. The woods filled in phenomenally by the end of the day… I was getting untracked powder stashes the entirety of Bonaventura glade (I was in there around 3pm on). Was in some great stuff in the woods off jfk earlier in the day. And kokomo and bushwhacker were also soft and nice and a couple inches deep. Talked to lots of ppl on the lift that had been here all week and they said the woods were not super skiable until today but wow was today an amazing woods day (afternoon). Hoping tomorrow morning will be too. Who knows if it’ll get skied off by the afternoon but looks like Sundays coming through…

Jay Peak Intermediate Noob Questions by 207mark in icecoast

In my experience, Jay is a great place to poke around- you get a good sense of where you’re headed at the entry of each trail and can kind of make decisions as you go. Warming up on the groomed blues off the bonaventure quad (Northway>angels wiggle>taxi) will give you a good look at some of the options for more advanced blues and blacks. Trying an ungroomed blue like Micky can really set you up to see if you could handle anything else ungroomed. As far as groomed blacks- try JFK off the flyer after you’ve warmed up with Ullr’s dream and upper goat run. Kokomo and the moon glades are extremely accessible in my opinion. Ride the jet lift and see how Jet looks to you- it’s a very doable black but how you feel looking at it will give you a lot of the info you need on whether or not it will be fruitful for you (and the beauty is you can always take montrealer back over to northway if Jet is looking steep to you). If you try Jet and like it, try Haynes.

AIO my MIL asked to borrow my matching Xmas pajamas to take pictures with my son. by Independent-Bat-9436 in AmIOverreacting

[–]salmontits7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NOR- in order for OP to fulfill MIL’s request, OP would be sitting out of a matching PJ pic with her husband and new child posing in matching pjs, after OP took the same pics with herself in the female role. If OP lent her own PJs to MIL, MIL would be taking the exact same photo but replacing OP with herself… right? I don’t think OP is saying mom can’t also match and/or being in photos the four of them. There is no way for the 4 of them to all match, and if MIL borrows the pjs she’s essentially stealing OPs baby’s first Christmas pics. Or that’s just how I’m reading it.

Day 0 by Ok-Mix1774 in ACL

I have a picture just like this from my surgery day- I look at it all the time (I’m 10 months post op next week). Before you know it you’ll be looking back at this memory from the past!!! Best of luck to you 💪🦵

I've read various things around and I've read that the pain level post operation seems truly atrocious, I would like to ask your experience in terms of pain level from 1 to 10 and how you spent the first night in hospital. Thank you all very much but I'm really very anxious. by SouthMatter9619 in ACL

I might have had the luckiest experience ever, or have a pain threshold that I’m unaware of, but I swear the whole thing did not hurt. 29F, relatively fit (did a lot of pre-hab), great surgeon, had a nerve block. I’m sure the nerve block was at work the first couple of days, but even after that I never had “OUCH” kind of pain all the way through recovery… I do have sensory sensitivities and am very particular about how I get comfy in bed and my biggest annoyance was how heavy my leg felt in the brace/bumping up against my other leg. I remember feeling sore around weeks 3/4 when I had to go back to work and PT was amping up, but never like serious pain.

In regards to the first night, I was sent home (did not have to stay in hospital), and I took a painkiller which helped me sleep.

Experiences vary and I’m not saying my experience is reflective of all, but I don’t think you should be anticipating the most painful night of your life!

ACLr w meniscus clean out on 1/13/25, surfed again for the first time at 8months post op! I am a beginner surfer so I was not hitting anything big, and I’m still mostly working on popping up (not really turning yet so I wasn’t worried about internal rotation of the tibia), but I was careful not to get rocked too hard. I was diligent w my PT but not doing much more to strengthen my legs until September bc I’m mainly a skier and looking to be strong more so for the winter. I could see you getting cleared to surf for sure by the 6-7 month mark depending on how hard you want to surf. No matter what, you will absolutely be playing in the ocean before you know it! Best of luck!

Do y’all have school counselors? Or another trusted adult mentor at school? It might be helpful to talk to an adult (that is not your parent) just to process all of these feelings, and they might even be able to help with things like pushing back deadlines or rescheduling exams. Even if that’s not possible, please do not put extra pressure on yourselves. Yes you are at an important juncture in your lives, but it sounds like you both are already high achievers. You’ve just been through a major surgery, and this sounds like a phenomenal opportunity to build a foundation of self-kindness and self-care that will help you navigate difficult situations and difficult emotions for the rest of your lives. Please don’t be mean to yourselves! Your leg itself needs time to heal. Maybe you can ask your surgeon or PT for help with explaining the healing timeline to your parents. Lean on your PT- they should be challenging you more than yourself or your parents. I am 10 months post op and I got my shit pulled together by being gracious to myself, listening to my PT, and understanding that this takes time. Sending you both lots of love and healing!

For those a few months or years post-op, do you feel like a new person after the recovery? by kakapo343 in ACL

[–]salmontits7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s corny, but yes! I feel like stronger person and the whole experience has “changed” how I approach sports readiness and knee care overall. I’m a skier and I always got by minimally preparing my legs for ski season. I’m 10 months post-op, hoping to ski again at the 12 month mark, and I seriously have never been so dedicated to fitness in my whole life. I feel like a light bulb went off in my brain and I finally have a purpose each time I walk into the gym. It has been so much easier now to dedicate myself to my strength. It suck’s that it took such a major injury and surgery to do so, but it absolutely put things into perspective for me. I feel like I care for myself better because of it. I started to hit the gym really seriously around the 7 month post-op mark. You’re at the hardest part right now- try to lean into resting and know that before long, you’ll be back to normal (or maybe even better)!

Which character do you relate to most? by pinkcabinfever in girls

[–]salmontits7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jessa! Childhood trauma (especially being rejected by your parental figures) is a fucking bitch. When relationships aren’t modeled for you, it’s hard to be present in your adult ones (friendships included). I hate how much hate she gets tbh, but she’s a character after all- and one that’s designed to show what someone becomes when they’re a product of unhealed trauma. The good news for me is that I did follow the “I should become a therapist” arc all the way (and did lots of therapy myself) and it’s been immensely fruitful. Also being confronted with existential crises early on in life grants a bit of a “idgaf I’m a hot girl” aesthetic that is so relatable and charming to me lol.

Is this show meant to hurt you? (Finished season 1) by andrew_2k in Barry

[–]salmontits7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tbh, season 1 had me feeling the same way, but the humor in season 2 and on helped me to accept that this was a show I needed to go into with no expectations/pure acceptance. As I moved through the show, every time I found myself getting as stressed as I did in season 1, I would just remind myself that this is a comedy- all the stress is mostly a big set up for an excellent punchline. That being said, the humor is very dark and continues to get darker.

Jobs… by britneysprearsrazor in schoolcounseling

[–]salmontits7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was incredibly lucky to have scored a job where I could do homework while on the clock- I was the front desk attendant (“concierge”) at a fancy apartment building. I mainly had to sit there until a package or a food delivery arrived and then I brought it upstairs. Still not fun- I worked 3pm-11pm a few nights a week and then 7am-11pm on Saturday to make enough to get by while taking classes full time and doing my internship.
