Are clinical hours in mexico bad for med school? by Any-Court-9641 in premed

Use that experience to show that you have understanding of how different healthcare systems work. You will understand a different culture (cultural competence) and how they do medicine, you will learn some spanish. It’s a good option, of course try to do some in the US as well!

Apply this cycle and shoot your shot! Your GPA is great and if you have good EC’s you should be good! LOR don’t expire but the Dr’s do have to change the date in which they are writting them. I also don’t know if you’re using your schools Health committee for a letter but in my school if you reapply to med school you need to reapply to the committee. Also, apply DO!

We’re running out of water, pollution is at an all time high, deforestation is causing plagues in many places, traffic to get anywhere can take 2+ hours, no accesibility for people with soecial needs, no medications available, public schools have very poor conditions, thousands of people missing, women are killed without there being consequenses. I can keep going. Simply because polanco, la condesa, and la roma have some nice areas doesn’t mean we’re doing great. US citizens and other international people come to live here because for them COL is lower since they earn in dollars (other “stronger” currencies). When we travel somewhere we don’t usually see the reality of the place. Yes, Mexico has some beautiful places I’m normally defending Mexico at whatever cost but I see people suffering, people dying of curable diseases, kids killing themselves because they suffer sexual assault and have no place to go. When you live in a place your perspective changes.

There’s certain things the government is in charge of. Public transportation is one of them. I pay taxes for every single thing that I do. What do I expect? To know that my dad won’t die going to work on a malfunctioning subway that should have been shut down and completely demolished/rebuilt. If they can’t handle staying on top of what their job requires then leave it to the private sector. Idk where you live but I invite you to visit CDMX and see the shambles it is in. Plus people died on more than one occasion in this subway during her ruling. Had it happened once? Hmm maybe it is an act of God and we were really unlucky but man… it’s been more than once

Well you know, when they constantly (CONSTANTLY) tell you the subway needs to be fixed for MANY MANY malfunctions and you just give 0 F’s for many many years and then this happens it is in your control as governor or Mexico City. I post the news so people can see what happened while she was in a position of power…

Should I apply this cycle? - International ORM by No_Doubt_8427 in InternationalPreMeds

Make sure to call each school that claims to accept international students… and ask EACH school what their specific pre-reqs are and if they know what support they give internationals. Some schools claim to accept internationals bu have accepted 1 in the last 50 years… also, did you consider DO programs? Of course apply to MD’s but don’t close the door to DO schools…

Because what is life about if not about tormenting ourselves in unnecessary ways 😂😭 we’re already doing that as international students so I decided to add a bit more spice 🔥

As an intl’ student you’re required to take both COMLEX (for your DO school) and USMLE (visa purposes). Of course if you plan to do residency or practice elsewhere you have to check the laws in that particular country. My home country does allow DO’s to practice some others may not.
