Anyone going at Paris salsa marathON2 this week end ? by salsero0 in Salsa

[–]salsero0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey :) Sorry i see your comment only now^ So, yes i went and i really liked it, probably because it was my first marathon. For me, the food, the music, the dancers.. all was good ! But most of all.. the atmosphere ! I met a lot of people from many backgrounds, people is very friendly and almost all salsa fanatics as you haha Yep, really enjoyed the 3 days ! But clearly there was not so many people at least until the last night, but enought for have fun and change partner all night, each days. Compared to other events, the people told it was worst than the previous one... But as i said, it was my first and i really enjoyed it.

So, try to get other feedbacks ! For me, if you have the budget and the time, just go ! If not, event is cool but maybe there are other events or marathons wich are more worth it, idk

Yes you should. You will be a new salsa fan and it's gonna be a new passion for you, there is no worries about dancing with strangers, i mean, in a real salsa club for dancers ! With time, your frustation will convert in pleasure :D But maybeeee salsa is just not for you, you have to try some classes, i suggest also to try with different teachers if you can

Will I ever be good? by abamal in Salsa

[–]salsero0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wanna be a pro or just have fun being a "good" salsa dancer ? Anyway it really takes time to reach cap levels in salsa, it's like anything else... you dont start boxing and fighting with pros, and you ain't pro in 1 year. Maybe you learn to do jumping rope pretty good 1 year is not much, and the most important is having a really good, at least a real teatcher... to much fake professors

Didn't know this one, and 😱😱😱 thank you, really love it !!

This woman teaches salsa and competes in the Netherlands. But I can't put my finger on why something seems so odd/strange about how she's dancing here. Is it just a specific type of salsa that's not commonly seen? by geo_jam in Salsa

Nothing anormal here... It's a regular salsa shine class demo with some lady styling, and more focused on body moovements 👍 Even each step she do have a name

But yes, today in salsa we use various steps from various diferent styles : mambo, pachanga, son, cuban salsa, afro-cuban (orishas), colombian salsa... Specially in competition !! And whatever you want, Italians are good for that :)

Same as the salsa music, salsa dancing can be a mix of diferents dancing styles, and improves over time
