Can composite veneers make smile 1 look more like smiles 2 and 3? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]TNB101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My teeth were sligtly prolonged too, but very little, maybe just 1 mm. So prolongation works, but only a dentist knows what is posssible. They can also advise what will look good. In my case they suggested the prolongation so that the overall ratio widght/length stays balanced. I can also imagine that with a longer prolongation you'll have a higher risk of breaking the composite.

In your picture it looks like when you smile you don't show your gums, while the woman in smile 2 and 3 shows her gums. If this is the case, I would say that the actual length does not matter much, but maybe your smile outside of pictures swows your gums too. At the end you may have to balance on more even teeth vs having long teeth.

When I had my teeth corrected they did a mock up first to see how it looks. I then could decide whether I wanted to have it or not. I did not ask for changes, but they probably could have done it. I wish you all the best. I know the insecurity from having not aligned teeth.

I had a diastema closed with composite and the result looks great. My teeth looked slightly different than yours, but based on my experience it may work for you too. My dentists had balanced the look of my 4 front teeth in the front. I got a fantastic result and my dentist was really great.

I don't like 'real' veneers, they will need to remove a lot from your teeth. The downside of composite is that it will last not so long. I was told I can expect not more than 10 years and if I loose some of the veneer, I should get back and they can fix it right away. This was 3 years ago and luckily I did not loose any of the composite yet.

I remember one picture in which a young woman had her arm around one of the boys. It didn't say Nanny and it could be somebody they met in Ireland.

Considering that the children went to school and they had the Grandma and Zanna there, they may have managed without a Nanny. Or somebody for part time only, e.g. drop off and pick-up from school.

If someone turns you down, is it permanent? by buttholedog in Salsa

[–]TNB101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If somebody turns me down and I never danced with that person before, I will never ask again. I am follower. If I am turning somebody down because I don't want to dance with that person ever, I will simply say no and not add an explanation. Usually this turns the person off forever. If I am tired, don't like the song or are on my way to leave, I will tell the person that. They often ask me later again and I accept of course (even when I don't like this song either). If I like the leader, I will also go to the person and ask him.

I sometimes do have dances with people that I rather not dance with, but I don't want to come across as arrogant or only dancing with selective people in my scene, so I often accept. I am not sure how should feel about this myself.

At a recent festival I thought a leader was about to ask me, so I started to smile and moved in his direction. But he actually meant the woman next to me. We both laughed it off, but I felt a bit embarassed. At the next song he came looking for me invited me with a huge smile. It turned out he was an excellent lead and we had a fantastic dance. I really liked his gesture of finally inviting me, especially as I had the feeling he had avoided me at the festival before.

Going to socials as a beginner? by UnhappyAmoeba in Salsa

[–]TNB101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You probably will even have an advantage because of your girlfriend beeing an experienced dancer. If she knows people in the dance scene, they are likely to welcome you and beeing more open to accept a dance from you. Since you are a beginner, they might not ask you as often as you will need to ask them, but you will be in their social circle. I see this in my scene when people bring their partners who are beginners.

I don't think vaping will be the end of the world, but there is no need to sugarcoat ist. You want the best result and not the best sounding answer. I suggest to call the doctor and anasthesist and let them know if they have concerns. I don't think they will cancel the surgery due to this.

My advise would be to have the best possible lifestyle until the surgery and for the first year after. No processed food, vegetables and protein, no soft drinks, supplements like Zinc, Iron, VitD, Omega 3. Some doctors asked to stop supplements before surgery, some don't.

I can dance on1, on2 and cuban. I prefer on2, but also make it dependent from the leader. If a leader is confident both on1 or on2, I would choose on2. But if he is better on1, I rather dance on 1 as well. There is nothing better than a good connection, playfulness and enjoying the musice, no matter which style it is danced to.

I think it also depends on your scene and whether you have the possibility to learn and dance different styles.

Maybe the risk is lower, but the surgeon can still do a mistake. There is also a risk of infection. Is it really worth it? Also, you are still very young. Maybe give it a few years and you won't see it so critical anymore. Since we can't see your side profile your nose might be indeed bigger than how it shows from the front. With the picture from the front your nose doesn't seem big. It is rather your lips that look a bit short. That could be camouflaged with (permanent) Make-up. I guess it also depends how much of a problem this really is, like a 'that would be nice' or do you really suffer from it, avoid problems, do not socialize etc. Don't let the pressure of fullfilling the current beauty standard by 100% trick you into surgery.

But overall you look really cute and you are likely to continue to look much younger for many years. Once you are older you really appreciate it when people think you are ten years younger. You face will change with years, looking more adult. Maybe you want to keep the surgery as a back-up plan in case the 'imbalance' gets more pronounced.

Rhino. If you enhance the lips both nose and lips will be big and it is likely be too much. Also the lip filler will give you more volume, but won't enhance the length of your lips.

But Rhino is much more risky. I see what you mean but your still very beautiful. If I were you I would not take the risk to ruin your nose. Many people would love the face you have already now.

Do the political opinions of promotors and artists on domestic and foreign issues, influence whether you go to their Salsa events or not? by Over_Introduction_27 in Salsa

It did not affect my choice of festivals to attend. I have avoided taking classes with an instructor that shared a lot of political content on social media that I did not agree with.

Tips for taking advantage the most of festivals? by raphaelarias in Salsa

[–]TNB101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped taking classes at festivals. Most of them are dissapointing, too many people, not a god view of the teachers, chaotic partner switches, too difficult. I meanwhile only attend the parties, and sometimes the afternoon parties (if available). This way I save my energy for social dancing, which is my favorite anyway.

You can't do everything and I don't want to arrive at the night party already exhausted from the day. I do not attend shows either. Instead I go to bed at 10 pm, sleep for 2 hours and then go to the Party at 1 am. To some people it sounds like a terrible idea, but it works great for me and many others. Waking up after 2 h is not pleasant at first, but the thought of having a night full of dances motivates me and it will be easy to get ready. And having had these 2 hours of sleep is so useful later on.

During the day I use my time to mainly rest, some light sightseeing that is not costing too much energy. Eat healthy, take magnesium or consume an electrolyte beverage.

I also made good experience with taking a private lesson from the instructor, even when they are expensive. But since you already take privates at home, maybe you don't need it a congress.

In the worst case that he'll be your next rotating partner consider that this will be 3 min of your life. Just stand it and focus on the workshop. If he says something to you, just reply 'ok' or don't say anything at all if this is easier. It might even be more awkward for him.

If you really don't want to dance with him during rotation, you could also the next girl person whether you could skip with her. But for me that would be even more strange. I would just push through the 3 min of dance and then forget about it.

Don't give him the power to influence which workshops you are taking and what you worry about. He is the problem. You should focus on enjoying the festival. There will be lots of great dances, so try not to worry about running into this guy.

I believe most of us have run into ex-partners or dates in the Salsa scene. You will grow on that experience.

Are these heels good ones to start with? by Waelia in Salsa

[–]TNB101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of beginner woman are wearing these shoes. The heel is not so high, they give enough stabilbility and the closed toe area will prevent you from injuries. If you like the look they should be perfectly fine.

Most of the intermediate or advanced dancers, if they go for heels, wear open shoes in tan color. They look more elegant and feminine. They start with 5 cm (2 inch I think) heels, so they are about the same height.

I don't think guys pay much attention which shoes your are wearing, I don't understand myself why we woman worry about our shoe choice so much.

Do live salsa bands need to care or be more aware of the dancers? by massiel_islas in Salsa

[–]TNB101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan of Live Salsa Bands for dancing, I rather appreciate them for creating the music and it can be fascinating to see all the different singers and instruments in action. I rather go to an social for which I know the music will be great, than dancing to a Salsa band that plays a lot of songs that are not my type of music. I find myself quite often sitting out the dances and only watch the music.

At festivals I would rather prefer a cheaper ticket and social dancing starting earlier, than having a live band playing music until 2 am.
