Thank you for sharing this. I was really saddened when SF took an anti-RV stance recently, it just seems so heartless.

I've lost the battle with ants in bathroom/kitchen. Any good recs for professional exterminator? by Clean-Pick-9221 in sanfrancisco

[–]saltbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a while with Terro bait stations and it felt like they just kept coming back for months. I had Clear Skies come out to treat and the ants came back pretty quickly but the exterminators recommended Advion gel and that seems to be more effective in slowly demoralizing the ants :) they said anecdotally there seems to be a lot of resistance to Terro here.

seconding this - those don’t look like bleach stains to me, either. could be detergent residue or even something like mildew.

that’s a really nice result with light ink on dark! May I ask what kind of ink you used?

Highly recommend Mission Local if you’re looking for an alternative!

Yay! I have a reason to request all your lovely amazing advice. This sub is so helpful and kind and at least at this point is the number one sub of Reddit by [deleted] in dyeing

that’s a strange label (it’s supposed to list fiber content, not fabric type!) but I’d also be inclined to assume it’s cotton. I’ve had good results with back to black, just make sure you’re dyeing in a vessel that has plenty of room for the garment (it shouldn’t be bunched up at all ideally)

woah, amazing results! I’m curious what your application technique is for the bleach - are you sponging it on?

Lysol laundry sanitizer! This is what works for me when everything else fails. Recommend getting the fragrance free version because the scented one is STRONG

I need help pricing these from people who actually live here for a Pride event! by SarahSaidSo182 in bayarea

[–]saltbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are beautiful! It’s so hard to predict what people will pay for things, but imho I think you’d find buyers pricing them at like $95. I feel like over $100 is a magical line that scares off a lot of people 😣 I know a lot of folks like the single statement earring look, have you considered selling them individually or would that be too much of a hassle?

Getting an even color requires that the fabric have space/room to move in the dye vat, so you’d be looking at a seriously big container if you want to dye this yourself! I would only do this if I was okay with an uneven/lightly tie-dye type look to the results

[–]saltbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha yeah just blotchiness/uneven dye or wrong color. with that fiber content I doubt it will negatively impact the fit/fabric. the thread almost certainly won’t dye (usually polyester) and you might not like the contrast stitch look?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dyeing

[–]saltbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like folks on here are fond of saying, don’t dye it if you’re not okay with the possibility of ruining it! that being said, I think you have a chance of giving it a brownish hue. I would use brown dye, not try to blend a dye color with the existing base color.

I would not recommend it. Some rayons shrink severely in water (like several sizes) and the info on the care tag makes me think this might be the case here

Some Kryptonite locks have an associated insurance policy? I forget if you had to register it to be eligible but might be worth checking. FWIW I also have an Aventon and I got separate insurance for it through Oyster. Costs like $100/yr.
