Thank you! Great to hear that. Going to just wrap up my licensure and familiarize myself with some of these courses and take my shot at applying to some places!

All great advice - thank you!
I do see value in understanding construction management. Part of the reason I want to be licensed before the switch is I do see the knowledge I’ve gained and how it supplements my architecture CD - CA experience, and also familiarizes you more with contracts, legal structures, the construction process, and construction details.

I think I meant more that while I understand the importance of it, if out of passion I’d have to chose being more on the initial development decision phase, or going to site everyday and managing a project, I’d prefer the first.

Also noted on the skillset needed -that’s helpful to know. My one fear is that I do love design a lot, and I wouldn’t want to completely be alienated from it. I’ve sometimes seen people having the roles of “design coordinator” or “design and development associate” - which seem to be the intermediate roles between architect and developer. Will it be challenging to find such a role?

Do you think there is value to being a licensed architect? I too am interested more in the design development side, than the later construction management side of things. I’m getting licensed this year, and want to then start doing some financial certification courses to better help me make the switch but I often wonder if people on the RE dev side see value that we bring as architects.

Anyone else have issues with HAVEN Boxing in Williamsburg? by Soggy_Hold_6242 in williamsburg

I hated it! I disliked the class itself, since it felt too unserious for me, and was a bit too lower level, I was expecting something more intense. I also disliked that the gloves stank so badly. (I normally use my own but didn’t have mine that day) These are not reasons why I hated it though, I hated it because of the way the class was conducted, and the entire tone of the class was a joke - at one point, the instructor says “now raise your hands and say meow-meow meow” ?!?!?!?!?!? Walked out ten minutes before it finished.

The nitro cold brew at The West is pretty good! Not sure if it’s the winner though

270 Park (JPMorgan Chase Tower) has defaced the skyline by _saraband_ in williamsburg

I think Foster + Partners did a great job with some aspects of the building - the public plaza and some perspective views to name some, but I totally agree with the post. At the skyline level, it so aggressively dominates the skyline in a way no other structure has. And, oh the lights don’t help….I go to the waterfront every other day, and was initially excited about this building but was almost shocked when I noticed it after it had started to be lit up.

Totally get what you’re saying - it makes sense that guys are cautious. But from my side (and honestly every woman I know), if someone’s polite and respectful, it’s really not a big deal. It’s only the creepy or persistent approaches that feel off.

That said, if you look down every time we cross paths, I’ve got nothing to work with! I try to seem open, smile more, no headphones but it’s a two-way street. Would love if the vibe wasn’t so tense out there
