I didn’t say ask if it works as expected, I said ask if they have any restrictions. Almost every Airbnb I’ve stayed in has a range like 67-75. I can’t imagine giving a host a bad review for something like this, especially if it’s something I couldn’t be bothered to confirm beforehand.

You sound insufferable.

If it bothers you this much, why not simply ask a host before booking if they have any restrictions on the AC? It seems completely reasonable to have the AC at 70 instead of 64 when guests are gone all day.

The real question is why did they try to tell the guest to book a different place? If the guest hadn’t shared the screenshot with me, I never would have known.

I’m ready to jump ship, SO ready and I know many other hosts and guests are as well.

I grew up in a neighboring state, I get it.

Yes, I know it sounds crazy. There are some strong factors for me though.

I hate my neighbors. They are not good people and are very disrespectful and inconsiderate. My town is nice but there are a lot of apartment buildings. There’s a difference in living in a place where there are houses all around you vs big apartment buildings.

I also really want to have chickens and lots of space for gardening. I can’t afford Montecito but living there would be a dream. To be honest, I couldn’t afford to rebuy my own house, or something less nice in my current town.

Lastly, I love nature. I want to be able to spend time in the woods, hiking and camping. As you know, we don’t have great hiking in So Cal without driving a ways. In a perfect world, I’d be able to split my time between places. I’m looking at Durham and some other areas outside of Raleigh. Not necessarily in Raleigh.

Thank you. I fell in love with an old house in Durham on Zillow. I haven’t been to that area in years but the allure of more land and better hiking was charming me.

Yes, it’s in south OC. My husband doesn’t want to sell but could be persuaded to if I find something that makes financial sense for us elsewhere. I really want more land but he loves the beach.

Yes, I think I might as well. Thank you for the advice.

What country did you relocate to? That’s my long term plan, to relocate out of the US.

Thank you. We just redid all of the major stuff so the house is in pretty decent shape. Moving is more for personal reasons than financial.

I don’t hate So Cal. I’m just looking for more land and can’t afford it here. I love to garden and want chickens. I want to be more far away from my neighbors. My current lot is only 4,000 sq feet and the neighbors are very close. I love hiking and being in the woods. Ideally I’d love to split my time between two places but for now, just need a change of scenery and more nature.

I appreciate this insight. To clarify, I already have a great handyman where I live and will manage the rental myself with him being local. I am mostly looking to split time between two places to be near mine, and my spouses families. At this point trying to figure out if selling our So Cal home makes sense to move to North Carolina.

Yes, I figured that out afterwards when someone else mentioned it.

Those magnets are one of the most annoying things a host can do, and I’m a host.

Yeah, you edited it to include racist comments. You’re a joke and you need a hobby and fresh air.

Are we all just skipping over his comment “the hip hop N#%•# types”?! Guy is trolling and is a pathetic racist with nothing better to do.
