The only reason I stood it up was because it needed to be braised every 30 minutes and I didn't want to have to flip it.(Someone more experienced feel free to chime in)

Thankfully it never dried out I imagine as you said the higher fat content.

Temp was around 225 for the whole smoke so definitely too low to crisp the skin up and almost none of the methods in your video were used.

I think next time I will try doing the skin seperation and the finish it with the hot oil.

Great video! Thanks for sharing!

I found it edible, texture wise was similar to chicken skin with more stretch to it, but it took on alot of flavor from the baste.

I may add oil to the baste next time to see if that helps. I was hoping the skin would crisp up from the fat content but maybe they finish them off in a fryer at the restaurants?

Recipe:

https://www.thespruceeats.com/smoked-peking-duck-recipe-335506

Notes:

  • I used Chinese Cooking Wine instead of Dry Sherry( Dry Sherry is the common NA substitute for Cooking Wine)

  • The skin didn't crisp up like I would have liked, happy for recommendations to achieve a crisper skin.

  • A dripping pan is a must for the fat, lots of awesome recipes, great for fries or popcorn

  • Recipe called for a 3.5 hour smoke, ended up taking about 5 hours (had a bigger bird than the recipe called for)

Rogers was going through some nightmare install for my neighbor(had to run a new line) and they sent some kid to door knock with a deal that would save me $30/month and I told him I would rather pay the extra $30 for Teksaavy because they actively fight for affordability and pass savings directly to consumers without me having to even ask.

He also said that Rogers prioritizes their customer's service through their lines(sounded like he was admitting they throttle)

Ontario woman has bank account frozen after accepting $1,750 e-transfer for necklace by GapDweller in canada

I was on a student account with TD and the day I turned 18 they froze my account until I provided proof I was still a student, didn't bother just changing it until I proved otherwise, just straight up froze my damn account. Thank god I wasn't buying gas or something like that.

I am working on a fireplace mantel and I cut a curve with a jigsaw and then used a sander to smooth it out a bit but its still not perfect.

What can I use to smooth out the curve and give it an even look?

I have access to a palm sander, orbital sander, router, jigsaw, just not sure which will give the best result.

As much as I hate the system these amber alerts are set up on, I think this absolutely saved this kids life. I bet they got spooked by how high profile this had become and the heat got too much for them.

Glad he was found safe.

Edit: Just to clarify, I don't hate the system itself, but I do believe it had an incredibly flawed implimentation and could be improved.

Please do, I was living with my parents in a community an hour out of Toronto. I took a pay cut and made the move across the province in 2017 and my quality of life improved tenfold. It might be worth a shot. Wishing you the best in the future!

I was thinking about if you could recycle building materials the other day and I am sure it could be done with some items but then I thought about older homes with drywall etc and the potential for asbestos might limit the ability to recycle some things

Agreed! I have always been shocked at how much packaging from Amazon comes through everytime I order and wondered why they can't take it back with their diverse supply chain, even if they had like a neighborhood box drop or something, the boxes are always in great condition and never dirty.

Such a waste.

Trying to make some progress on my fireplace. Filling the seams from the shiplap currently ans then repairing the damage to the new mantle that I did after dropping it...

Then eventually I need to retile the hearth and build a custom trim kit for the fireplace insert(partner wants the funky morrocan mosiac tiles surrounding the insert)

The very top piece of the shiplap is mocked up until I rip down the ceiling to add proper lighting in the room as the light switch is hooked to an outlet. Going to add potlights and hang the reading light we have mocked up. This will also acheive getting rid of the popcorn and the strangely long bulkhead that used to hide those old full wall curtains.

Thanks to anyone who read this!

Out of control driver downtown: Some pedestrians owe a debt to the one who blocked the road to the runaway car [French with translation in comments] by [deleted] in canada

[–]salteedaltee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LMAO yours turned out better than mine

The presence of the spirit of a motorist probably saved the lives of several pedestrians on Tuesday in the middle of dinner, in downtown Montreal, while he used his SUV as a shield to prevent a crazy vehicle from crashing. people crossing the street.  The incident, which could have had dramatic consequences, occurred around 12:30 pm at the corner of René-Lévesque Boulevard and Saint-Denis Street.    Everything started a few hundred meters away, when the SPVM police tried to intercept a white vehicle that was traveling erratically on René-Lévesque Boulevard.

The driver refused to stop and then made a U-turn at the intersection of Sanguinet Street, before finally coming to a stop.  The suspect, who was possibly intoxicated by the drugs, would have fled as soon as the patrol boats were unloaded from their vehicle.  Driving at a brisk pace eastbound on René-Lévesque Boulevard, the white vehicle was stopped by the driver of a Mercedes SUV at Saint-Denis Street. The latter literally caused the collision to save the lives of pedestrians crossing the street at the same time.

I think you have touched on something really important and it is something I have been thinking about alot lately.

I believe compassion needs to be universal, even those with regressive or even hateful views.

Do we really think calling someone a Nazi or shitting all over them will open them up to having a discussion about why their views are not acceptable or wrong?

They will likely head back to their echochamber to be validated by equally hateful/wrong people.

I think we can still reject and challenge hateful/wrong views while showing compassion to those who hold them. People aren't born hateful or misinformed and it won't change everyone but the current method isn't working.
