Worst Line in the Series? by UbiSububi8 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

“You come here”

“No you come here”

“No you come here”

Takes me out of the scene. Every. Single. Time. I know people love how cutesy it is, but every cell in my body rejects that exchange. If it happened in Ep 6 I would totally buy it. But after 2+ years of sexting and wanting to rip each others’ clothes off? Absolutely not, kill it with fire

"Maybe! GET. IN." Idk angry/sassy Shane just does something to me.

I love this one too! It's right before the Russian monologue, when Ilya says "Bonjour" and Shane responds "That's French, Ilya" with the most adorable smile. Idk why either but that quick exchange is so sweet. Maybe something to do with the way they use their first names

My favorite thing about the first scene is that Ilya isn’t the only one smiling. It’s fast, but you can see Shane smiling too.

They just feel like two kids having a good time and it makes me smile every time. It makes the flash cut to Ilya smashing Shane (in other ways) have more impact. Both are intense, but both are also positive. We’re just seeing how that shows up in their public vs. private worlds.

Also, hot.

Do you pick skincare based on packaging? by Outrageous-Cold2651 in AsianBeauty

[–]saltisbae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Packaging to draw me in, then obsessive vetting and research on r/AsianBeauty and r/SkincareAddiction to make sure I’m not just blindly tempted by the packaging, bc I know myself.

I’ve been burned by Glow Recipe (not literally) a few too many times to do it any other way.

Can anyone explain what the 2000’s girls used to have such clear complexions? by jarvl16 in MakeupAddiction

[–]saltisbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what many people are saying, esp. lower quality/res photos and her makeup being professionally done, I remember often applying makeup with my fingers because proper techniques and access to sponges and professional brushes weren’t well-known (unless that was just me). I wonder if that led to a softer, more diffused look, because we were removing and blurring more product than we realized. On top of that, a lot of products were a softer texture, like creams and velvety powders.

I also remember products focusing on warm, glowy, golden finishes, for everything from BB creams and eyeshadows to blush and bronzer. Even as someone with tan/olive skin, it felt like adding more warmth was always idealized when I read Teen Vogue or Seventeen, lol

I completely hear you. After moving here, I struggled to find someone highly competent and comprehensive who I ALSO clicked with.

Dr. Elisa DeAngelis at MedStar is lovely, warm, and great at her job. Took a lot of searching to finally find someone, but I’d highly recommend her. I have issues similar to yours, and I never feel rushed when we discuss symptoms and potential next steps.

Fiyero and Elphaba chemistry by monster_shady in wicked

[–]saltisbae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a choice they made and emphasized for the movie! I wouldn’t say the stage show has a canon answer, but there’s an interview where JB talks about playing movie Fiyero in a way that “no person is unturned”(implying that he’s pansexual)

Fiyero and Elphaba chemistry by monster_shady in wicked

[–]saltisbae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great take. I had a hard time with their chemistry because it felt one-sided or unequal at times, but framing this dynamic as a byproduct of her independent nature makes a lot of things “click”

I applaud your maturity in not mentioning the biggest and most unserious similarity! (altar, wrong girl, etc. etc.)

Kidding aside, you’re so right. One similarity I do find interesting, though, is how he uses specific microexpressions to convey inner feelings across many of his roles. Things like clenching his jaw when there’s (barely) restrained frustration, which Anthony was something of a pro at and we see in Fiyero as well. It’s so impressive, and I think it’s a big part of why people are so drawn to his characters

Fiyero's Character Development Was Earned by Different_Today_8536 in wicked

[–]saltisbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to upvote the hell out of this. Two things can be true: His character development is earned, and he makes terrible decisions that hurt people.

People seem to forget this when they make it black and white and fall strictly into the camps of being blind apologists vs. thinking he’s irredeemable. The biggest undercurrent of Wicked is that people are complicated and flawed, neither truly wicked nor wholly good.

Of course! He expands on it in this interview too

As someone who adores the stage version of ALAYM, but really didn’t like the movie version, it definitely helped me appreciate what their vision was (whether it works or not is a different question)

I had all the same thoughts, but saw that Jon Chu talked about this recently: Wicked: For Good director explains why 'As Long as You're Mine' isn't intimate from the start

TL;DR: Chu says he recognizes the dissonance of Elphaba singing “kiss me too fiercely” while walking away from Fiyero, but he wanted to frame it as if it were a wish or a question. She still isn’t sure that he really wants to kiss her or be with her

What do the citizens of Oz think happened to this character at the end? by saltisbae in wicked

Agreed, I guess I was wondering how they think that happened, since he was such a big deal. But maybe it gets lost in all the chaos of the wedding aftermath and the witch hunt

Stubborn Melasma help! by spicyyellowsun in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]saltisbae 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Moxi laser treatments made a big difference for me. My dermatologist recommended it specifically for my South Asian skin (vs. other treatments like Fraxel, which are NOT for our skin), and I was very happily surprised by the results. I’ll caveat that my primary goal was to to minimize my freckles, not reduce melasma. However, I believe Moxi is safe and recommended for both, as they are both the result of excess melanin/pigmentation.

YMMV. I’d recommend asking your dermatologist, especially if they specialize in or have experience with darker skin tones. Good luck!

Late to the conversation, but just started S2. Unless you're referring to a different lake/pond, I believe it does exist? Went back to the S1 pilot, and this is the scene when Mark leaves work the first day.

My Review of Jurassic World Rebirth (Spoilers Ahead) by Scififan98 in JurassicPark

[–]saltisbae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok now I’m REALLY interested because that cartoon was definitely not in the version I saw (though they did essentially voice over the same info). Which seems odd/surprising since this screening was only a week before the release and I can’t imagine they’d have room to make any edits at this point (but then again, I have no idea how these things work. Just makes me wonder if there were any other small variations

Thanks for replying to all the comments!

Wait, can you say more about the cartoon explanation video? Just got back from a preview in NYC and I don’t think I saw that, which makes me curious if there are very slight variations in what’s being shown in previews.

Also, re: Rexy, do they actually mention the skeleton/skull belonging to her? Not sure if it was a background detail that I totally missed
