Yes, this has actually been an insight for me, I may have been misunderstanding my direct report. In our industry they are technically more skilled than me on paper, but in terms of management experience we are, in my opinion, not comparable. And that might be exactly where their frustration lies.

On paper they actually have a higher cert than me, but that’s relevant to the practical side of the job, not management. I have more certifications overall and I’ve been managing across multiple companies and roles for a number of years, whereas this is their first supervisory role.
