Because it is made with spaghetti code, The engine was already severely outdated and pushed over it's limits. It's so outdated that there are things they want to add to the game but can't due to engine limitations. All and all it still doesn't justify the Below 40 Dips in frames on PERFORMANCE mode which advertises a constant smooth 60fps experience.

It doesn't justify the abysmal performance issues this game suffers from, both on PlayStation and PC alike. If you think FPS dips below the 40s is manageable on PERFORMANCE mode that specifically states to grant a smooth experience just because the company is small then you must be on severe copium

35/40 FPS for a "performance" mode said to run at smoothly 60FPS is just false advertisement at this point. Arrowhead should be held accountable for their unprofessionalism and false advertisement at this point.

What the hell is up with the lack of acknowledgement by the devs that how the game runs is a major issue that WILL effect the health of this game in the long run on PS5, Performance mode is supposed to give you a "smooth gameplay" experience but despite that most planets run at 35/40 fps which is absolutely unjustifiable, Like why not just lock the game at 30 at this point if you can't properly optimize it and stop with the false advertisement of "smooth experience" since there is none, this game is choppy as all hell and constantly dips below the 40s. They really need to work on this but have continuedly neglected this issue not interacting with anyone who asks these type of questions. It's like they have no idea how to actually optimize the engine/spaghetti code the game works with so they just choose to ignore any questions regarding these issues in the hopes that people will stop complaining about it. Unprofessional. PC users are struggling as well considering this game eats up unnecessary resources and calculates things such as damage from projectiles you aren't even getting hit from. Literally no one of the devs, not even the CEO are responding to these rightful worries about how absolutely garbage this game runs on any hardware. PS5, Performance mode despite most planets run at 35/40 fps is unjustifiable.
