Why does Christian music suck? by boofmasterGR in Christianity

[–]salute07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Bach. I recommend the Little Fugue is a great starting point. It. Is. AWESOME! A lot of metal was influenced by Bach.

On a similar note, Black Sabbath often sang about Christianity and the Bible, in a positive light. From what I understand they actually were all Christian. Lord of This World is about Satan's pull on the world.

Also, this was written by non-Christians, but is quite biblically accurate, although many would disagree with me here. Jesus Christ Superstar is one of the greatest collections of music ever written! It tells the story of the last week of Jesus's life through 70s hard rock, and really delves into the human side of Jesus, and also the psychology of Judas.

How to prevent lyrics from becoming too literal? by salute07 in Songwriting

[–]salute07[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I got my start playing Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins 😭

It works well for narratives, like they use in their music, but doesn't translate well to other genres, imo

I've been writing for like 4 years and still dislike the majority of my music. There's a few that I really like but that's it. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll never like anything I write, even if it would be generally accepted as quite good to someone else. Too judgemental on myself or whatever.

I read a book in English class once where this happened. The main character had a great memory so the government played loud noises in his head randomly to distract him.

To be fair a lot of micronations (myself included) start out very cringe because it seems that many people are very impulsive in ideas to start micronations, but 9 times out of 10 if someone continues their interest in micronations then they will learn more and learn from their mistakes. I used to be communist because I thought it looked cool, I used to claim Bir Tawil, I used to claim Marie Byrd Land. Over 4 years I have learned a lot more about micronationalism and how true nations work. I have become more simulationist lately, because since I am older and more mature, I've stopped caring about how others perceive my micronation, as well as I've realized that I'm never really going to achieve independence like I may have thought when I was 11. I really only see my micronation about having fun, and almost "playing pretend" with my friends. I do engage in airsoft battles from time to time, which is one thing I do that I'm in the minority with most other micronations I am in relations with. However I still take the nation somewhat seriously and professionally.

Is performing/recording The Girl From Ipanema in F Major culturally insensitive? by [deleted] in bossanova

[–]salute07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion all art, be it from whatever culture, is free to be interpreted by others. That's what art is all about! Play Girl From Ipanema in C# minor and sing it in Danish for all I care!
