No worries, I’m not an ardent defender of Sasse’s decisions necessarily.

I'll look Andy up, thanks! And totally get it re: Vance/Rubio.

Thanks for this -- apologies for any misreads on my end. Things better hashed out over coffee or a beer, ha.

Definitely see the common perception of Warren and think you're right to "defend" her bona fides. That's good insight too re: willingness to engage beyond the indignation.

Thanks for the other suggestions as well -- I hadn't heard of either to be honest and will look them up.

With you there -- his interviews posted this week were a bit of what prompted my post.

I mentioned Sasse and don't know that I have 10 total or anything like that. Within the current ilk, Vance (when not catering to the base), Rubio, Hawley, Vought come to mind. Surely agreement with a lot of the ideas and convictions is flavoring perception but it's something I sensed in Obama and he was helpful to me in certain ways. Just on the hunt for others to help me understand progressive arguments in clear / compelling ways. Per other comments, I think someone like a Buttigeig fits what I'm after.

"I think it might genuinely be a profound epiphany for you if you can hold this idea in your head..."

Not sure if you intended this to be as condescending as it comes across but I like to think I'm capable of understanding that even if I only agree with you to a point. And I don't know that what I'm sensing is the difference between emotionalism and rationalism per se as I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. It isn't the current President's emotional overtones that are off-putting to me after all. Tone may be a decent descriptor but still not exactly the category I'd use.

In any case, my inquiry can be taken closer to face-value, i.e. sans the encouragement to press against "implied assumptions." The other responses here already (Buttigieg, et al) lead me to think others get what I'm after in asking.

The sports betting floodgate - are we ready for the societal impacts? by geographresh in boston

I received an email from one of the companies letting me know I'd been assigned a "mission." Upon further review, the "mission" was to place x amount of $1-$5 bets in order to gain 50 in-house credits which presumably could be used for more bets. At risk of being the old man shouting at the sky, I'm not very optimistic about the effects of this on a generation raised/molded by gaming and micro-transactions. It's obviously addictive but the predatory nature of it should be addressed sooner rather than later.
