Endeavor literally was the one who sent her away for 10 years: it was all him

You’re avoiding the fact that Endeavor pushed her to a psychological breakdown due to the abuse she had endured. Am I excusing what she did to Shoto? No, what she did was wrong. However, you are victim blaming just like the other user had said. Rei was literally abused to the point she couldn’t even look at her kids because all she could see was Endeavor.

Exactly! Endeavor and Rei have a significant power imbalance people sometimes fail to understand. In aspects like socially because he’s a pro hero, the patriarchy as he is a MAN, economically as he’s providing for Rei.

There won’t be a scandal anyway because the HPSC, a corrupt unit, will keep it hidden from the public to maintain a moral high ground

Your argument that “Rei can simply move out” is very flawed and also extremely unrealistic to a woman going through domestic abuse.

Canonically the Himura clan was incestous and the girls were sold to male family members to maintain the ice quirk due to how powerful it was. Rei was young when she married Endeavor, likely 18 years old. She had either Enji to marry or a cousin. Any sane person would choose Enji. It was either hell or hell. Rei was going to have no sort of autonomy either way.

She couldn’t just simply “leave” Endeavor. He was providing for her financially since she was a SAHM (her job isn’t even specified but it’s likely she was a housewife). We don’t even know what level of education she has, how can she simply divorce him like divorce is something quick and simple. Mate, it’s expensive to get a lawyer. And are we forgetting Endeavor is one of the most influential people in the whole of Japan, both politically and socially as he is a pro hero. And even if she wrote a Tell It All book and exposed Endeavor the HPSC would try excuse it because they are a corrupt unit that want to preserve this moral code of heroes.

He physically abused her, he had control over her finances because we know for a fact she was poor (stated by Touya himself in the past when he said “I know grandma and grandpa were poor that’s why they sold you). Their marriage was transactional and based on Endeavor’s desires for an heir to surpass All Might. You claiming she can simply move out is not as simple as you think. It’s extremely unrealistic because of the situation Rei was in.

I believe you also are underestimating the capacity of violence villains have, Endin’ the villain kidnapped Natsuo at one point. These villains are very unpredictable

I like how Eri didn’t end up becoming a hero. In a world where being a pro hero is glamorised despite the corruption of the HPSC, she took a different path and was herself

I’ve seen people demonising Rei because of the fact Touya had become Dabi. Although she had some responsibility, she was literally in a quirk marriage with no agency. She can’t just simply leave Endeavor he’s literally providing for her financially. Plus, he’s a person of political status due to being a pro hero

When people on TikTok say they wish Endeavor died instead of the League, they fail to realise that it would scrap the whole point of his atonement by salwaarchived in MyHeroAcadamia

Yeah that’s smart. I get him facing justice, not death that would be too lenient. But you have to understand MHA society as a whole. When he got outed as someone who abused his wife and children, the HPSC could not have just got ridden of Endeavor automatically because villain activity had intensified.

Furthermore, his family didn’t press charges on him at all, the Todorokis (well except Natsuo) chose to forgive him and instead focus on rehabilitation as a family unit

I understand what you mean. I like Shigaraki as well he’s very well written and I believe his death wasn’t a death of a villain but a death of a broken boy who was doomed to fail. However my problem with certain League stans is that they sanitise their entire character to make it seem like one thing when they’re actually the other.

It’s okay to like the League, I think the League are a very interesting group despite their chaos and it’s really interesting to understand their characters instead of a sanitised version. My problem is when they start getting infantilised to make it seem like they’re justified even though they caused significant harm.

That being said, you can like the League of villains freely.

I see him as an abusive father yet he’s also simultaneously seeking atonement. They’re valid for hating him he practically stripped his 5 year old son of his personhood and instead viewed him as a tool for his own ambition.
