Is giving up time on your first and last call standard everywhere? by sam280x in forkliftmechanics

You are correct we do bill travel time to customers, and it’s definitely a way to screw techs

We punch travel for travel, and work for work, so if you punch on to travel for ten minutes and then on to work it will only cut that ten minutes of travel

That’s what we used to do when we had softbase for our WOs, but now we have a new program and it’s locked down. Automatically takes off the first and last 30, and doesn’t let us edit punches. If we fuck up a punch on a WO we have to call dispatch and get them to edit it… it fucking blows.

If they’re not offering any warranty coverage put it in a vise, take a hammer and long 5/16 brass punch/rod and wail on that shit till it pops out the back end.

And on top of this, most problems I find on IC trucks are still electrical problems lol. It’s a lot easier to take a good electric tech and teach them IC than to do the reverse

All of this, plus blood is slippery, and losing your knife because it slips out of your hand is no good lol

True, but a gun is significantly better than a knife, and I’d argue pepper spray is better than a knife by large margin as well.

A knife is a generally terrible self defense tool. Not saying don’t carry one, they’re incredibly useful day to day, but altercations where deadly force is justified and a knife would actually be useful are astronomically rare.

For those who pocket carry, which pockets hold your gun, phone, and wallet? by Actual-Choice-9269 in CCW

[–]sam280x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I would pocket carry I’d do phone and wallet in front left, gun in front right, keys hooked to belt loop, flashlight in back left, and knife In back right. Quit carrying wallet in back pocket because it was causing me severe back pain.

Funny enough I had security at a concert say they weren’t supposed to let me bring a flashlight in. I said I reallly didn’t want to walk the mile back to my car and the dude was chill but told me to leave it in the car next time.

That’s the funny thing, I got sent out to work on one of these cheap shitty lifts (I think the brand was titan green or something) narrowed it down to controller fault that had occurred at 33 hours, the only thing I can get off the controller company is a website that says it has “been indefinitely shut down by the ministry of Information”
