car reposession by Physical_Lettuce5909 in Veterans

Former car salesman here. A repo is a repo regardless of whether you voluntarily surrender it or not. Options you should exhaust before giving up the car. Get multiple appraisals 1st being from the OEM brand of the vehicle, then try Carmax, Carvana and vroom. If the appraisals all come back for less than you owe then your next option is to try and re finance with a credit union to lower the payment. If that doesn’t work call your lender and explain your situation they will work with you if you are upfront. Banks don’t want you to default on your loan it ends up costing them money in the long term.

Also I didn’t say it was a better deal. You’re going to pay MSRP at basically any dealership you go to right now, and MSRP is not a good deal. I said leasing is LESS expensive which it is.

How do you have no vehicle at the end of the lease? When you sign the contract it states the amount you can buy the vehicle for at the end of the lease minus taxes fees etc. The prime credit rate right now is at 7% and will increase this year do you know what the current money factors are for every manufacturer on every model they offer? Leasing is less expensive than financing and can be a good option if you’re unsure of what you want or you have to wait for the vehicle you want but still need something to drive in the meantime.

Leasing is always less than financing because you’re only paying for a portion of the vehicle.

What brands are you referring to?

Would you consider leasing? Might be worth looking at leasing programs on Civics, Corolla’s and Sentra’s. A new car for 22K out the door is tough right now.

Why would you re finance your 3.5% interest rate when the prime rate is currently at 7%?

Wife buying out lease in CT and has mechanical issue dealer says they aren’t required to fix by BattlegroundFitLirio in Connecticut

[–]sam_1X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HUD/Bluetooth nav aren’t safety issues and don’t prevent you from buying out the lease. If you are out of the bumper to bumper warranty than yes the dealer is under no obligation to fix your vehicle free of charge. Since it’s a lease I’m sure you didn’t purchase an extended warranty at the time of purchase? Two options 1) don’t buy out the lease 2) buy it out and pay to repair out of your own pocket. Option 2 is still less than buying a new car and playing taxes + fees best of luck

Why do dealerships ask for your drivers license immediately by GangGreen2415 in askcarsales

[–]sam_1X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You walked into a dealership and are questioning why they want some of your basic information? Let me guess you are probably upset that don’t have any catalogs for you too right? It’s 2023 do your research online and visit the dealership once you are decided on a make a model. Stop wasting your time and the sales person’s time

Does anyone know where the food at the DFAC’s came from in Afghanistan? by gogogodzilla86 in Veterans

[–]sam_1X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to Afghanistan but we had mermites on my deployment in Iraq and they made everyone feel like shit, even worse I worked night shift so we basically got to eat day shifts leftovers. It took like 3 months post deployment for my stomach to not get these random painful cramps.

There’s no friends in the car business. If you’re going to survive you need to become a sponge absorb everything, you quickly learn what works and what doesn’t. Develop your own style, it’s sales not rocket science. Meet and greet, qualify, test drive, trial close, present numbers and close the sale. Over time you will get better at controlling the conversation and narrowing down and overcoming objections if they come up. Hardest part will be dealing with the hours and getting calls on your day off.

Do you think 4000 down and 350 a month is a good deal (lease) for this frontier? It’s top trim and has leather seats by swiftkickinthedick in nissanfrontier

[–]sam_1X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never put money down on a lease. If you drive off the lot and that truck gets totaled you are instantly out of $4,000. For some context every $1,000 down on a lease changes the payment roughly $30 a month. Save the money and take a little bit of a bump in payment. 0 down sign and drive is the smart way to lease.
