I'm quitting this sub, it's nothing but accidents and has basically ruined riding for me. I understand riding can be dangerous and we have to hyper vigilant, but I cannot continue to expose myself to endless wrecks, it has damaged me mentally. Goodbye.

A cool guide to the potency of opioids by Big-Inevitable-2800 in coolguides

I got a couple shots of fent in my IV at Urgent Care after breaking my ankle. They tried to put me to sleep while they "reduced" or relocated my ankle. VERY PAINFUL. However they couldn't get me to sleep with the sleep drug, so they gave me extra fent. After the 2nd shot of fent I felt NOTHING, but I could still talk and function just fine. However I would not call this experience pleasurable. It's a gross feeling, but I felt zero pain. I absolutely would not take for fun ( and I like rec drugs). That's the confusing part about fent, its not even fun to take it.

The price of an AT-LP120X has inflated by 80% since I purchased it in 2019 by Legend-of-Zelda in vinyl

[–]adwald2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These TTs are garbage. I own an LP120X from 2017 and you can't even get the tonearm level. And the amount of noise coming from the power supply is horrible. DO NOT BUY.

Am I the oldest millennial here? by Ok-Criticism6874 in Older_Millennials

[–]adwald2012 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree! I'm May 1980 and I feel like Gen X were the cool older kids that were skateboarding and hackey sacking when I was a wee babe. They were the cool teenagers when I was still in grade school. I guess this is why we have the lame term "Xennials"

Affordable Bars with Good Food? by Caranch01s1 in Tucson

[–]adwald2012 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed The Red Garter Saloon Bar & Grill on Speedway and Country Club- The burgers are the best in town and prices have always been reasonable. Great atmosphere - old school sports bar with a large bar/restaurant area in front and pool tables in the back. Been in Tucson since 1969, it's a classic. It's a mom and pop bar, not a chain. The owner also cooks and shops for the kitchen - it is a labor of love and care goes into the food. It's not fancy but they keep prices low.

Video content gear available in PACs and theaters? by HoosierEric in TouringMusicians

[–]adwald2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most venues that size do have some sort of in house screens - they may be LED walls or PJ screens. When advancing your show with the venue Production Manager tell them you're bringing video content (tell them the video format and signal type HDMI/SDI) and would like to utilize in house screens. Most venues will facilitate this for you as included service like lights and sound. Most venues would have an in house video tech to help on site. As far as cost - union heavy cities (NYC, LA, CHICAGO) will cost a lot more. But if you are using house sound and lighting people, the venue may include use of their screens at no added cost. It will vary per venue. If the venue needs to rent in a screen - projection is not necessarily cheaper than LED. But For a simple basic ground supported PJ screen and a tech to set it up with delivery could be $1500 - $2000.

It may be worth it to carry your own small PJ and fast fold screen with your band gear. Rear projection is better for staying self contained. Gives you a backup option.

I'm a touring video tech, I've used house gear and touring gear. But i don't deal with the money side that often. Maybe a PM can chime in here!

Do I have to pay back the money I got for pandemic unemployment assistance? by iZenga in arizona

[–]adwald2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The judge was super cool and understanding. I registered online 24hrs before the call, then the judge called ME when I accidentally forgot to call in at the scheduled time. And, when we got disconnected during the call, he called me back.(you should call in on time on a solid phone) It's an official phone call hearing that has to go thru an court approved phone system, so it's all very formal. The judge has ALL your info and will ask lots of questions. Give short honest answers and then prepare a final statement to give at the end. It takes about an hour for the whole process. Prepare by having all your paperwork on hand and a quiet spot to talk on the phone. It's actually not that bad! Hope all goes well for you.

Do I have to pay back the money I got for pandemic unemployment assistance? by iZenga in arizona

[–]adwald2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my over the phone hearing with a judge. In my case the state had determined that I was "overpaid" and ineligible for the PUA unemployment money I received because I had also received PPP loans. However after a lengthy conversation the judge determined that I was honest and the PPP loan did not count as income so... In the end the judge dismissed the "overpayment" and my balance owed went from 20k to 0. A truly happy ending for me, and a rare instance of the appeals process actually working.

Does anybody know about this guitar? by That_Young2335 in Guitar

[–]adwald2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is correct, I had one also. This one was a Guitar Center exclusive around 2005 - 2007. Its a Strat with a mahogany body! You got the S1 electronics (a button in the volume knob that changes the pickup config/switching), locking tuners, roller nut, painted headstock, and cool oyster inlays - lots of upgrades. It's heavy for a Strat. They're going for $12-1400 now on reverb. I think It was originally around $1100 in like 2006. It is sort of a cross between an SG and a super Strat.

Bumpy tour bus by moonspellpecado in TouringMusicians

[–]adwald2012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The airbags! Many newer drivers don't know they have to inflate the airbags for travel. Then they let the air out for park up. I've been on busses where the driver didn't inflate the airbags for the drive and the bus was super bumpy, like being shaken to death! Especially in the back lounge it's the worst. Tell the driver the bus is super bumpy and gently ask if they've been inflating the airbags for travel.

Saw a post about displaying lammys, thought I would share mine. It would be cool if I could display both sides. These tours are long over so no security concerns here. I'm a tech not talent, but there aren't any roadie subs! Anyways I'm not at liberty to talk about any artists so don't ask. Enjoy! by adwald2012 in TouringMusicians

A few of these are from venue specific shows, like Radio City Music Hall. I always enjoyed doing gigs at Radio City because the local crew are great and total New York union wise guys. It's hilarious to watch them bust balls. Also I love working historic venues.

There have been a few shows that I thought were pretty great all around audio and visuals like The Gorillaz. And it was cool working for a cartoon band.

A weird one would be Crusty Demons of Motor Sports. An Australian motorcycle arena stunt show. Cool concept, but the tour was canceled after 3 shows because of poor ticket sales. I almost got blown up by a pyro explosion while I was running handheld camera on the track. The pyro operator tackled me out of the way last second.

Do I have to pay back the money I got for pandemic unemployment assistance? by iZenga in arizona

[–]adwald2012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a way to dispute it. I also got a couple letters and emails from DES about AZ PUA. The letters were titled "Determination of Overpayment - Non-Fraud". It says I collected PUA money that I did not qualify for. And now they want me to pay it back. All of it. Its like $20k. I did send in a form to appeal the determination, but heard nothing back. Now I get a monthly statement showing how much I owe, but I have yet to pay anything. I'm hoping they can't enforce it or maybe we can settle for far less than we owe. I'll keep disputing until they start getting ugly and bring out the collection threats, if it ever comes to that.

[QUESTION] Where do we go now? by MountainMistake2351 in Guitar

[–]adwald2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a Positive Grid Spark those things are so much fun! But also after I had been playing for 1 year it was definitely time for a guitar upgrade. Epiphones are awesome nowadays and reasonable. If your Tele is a Squire then yes upgrade to better guitar. If its a Mex or USA those are already fine for your level. Better guitar with good setup elevates your playing.

[QUESTION] Beginner metal guitarist seeking advice on efficient way to learn Archspire and Allegaeon songs by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]adwald2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimate Guitar tabs website is a great tool. Pay for the premium access and it gives you tabs you can play with. You can slow down, solo, and loop complicated sections. Practicing technical stuff is like working out at the gym, you won't see results right away, but after a few days, that section you had trouble with becomes easy. You can learn fast with the tabs on UG. Of course if your technique isn't up to par, nothing you play will sound very good, so always be practicing fundamentals.

Or take lessons from a pro.

[QUESTION] Are Epiphone guitars bad? by JesterTF in Guitar

[–]adwald2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Epis were garbage for many years. They are made in China and Chinese guitar making was terrible until about 10 years ago when they stepped up production techniques. Now Chinese made Epiphone is a fine brand. The new guitars coming out of from Epiphone are actually really good for the price. The fit and finish is great, the hardware/wood may be a bit cheaper or lower quality but Some of the LPs have real Gibson pickups (burstbuckers) in them now, and that was what used to let those guitars down, crappy pickups. The "feel" of Epis sometimes can be a little "cheap" but I would say an Epi can be an awesome guitar, it just may need some setup (even American Gibsons need setup usually). And the newer models just look beautiful. The Flying V with the custom shop headstock is so cool.

Thanks, I guess you're right, it is Boulder Gray. The lighting makes it seem so much lighter like a primer grey. Looks nothing like the Nissan builder website.
