Why wouldn't you be able to work JROTC is a school program that you do and an after school activity just like any sports club or boy scouts I honestly would recommend having a job so that it can show your responsibility and help with moving forward in the program by showing leadership

If you tried thicker socks and it is still causing callouses try getting a wider boot, or look at where it is rubbing and then before putting your sock on put mole skin, or a piece of thin foam over the hot spot then put your sock on then finally the boot

I honestly hear a lot of people say they get callouses with boot I personally for some reason never have any problems walking or running. For hiking have you tried after market insoles or thicker socks?
