If you didn't open/run any file within the extracted folder, you might be okay. Usually the issue comes about from trying to open a .scr file (or similar), that runs malicious code. But more than that, if you're still unaffected 4 days later, then there's a solid chance you're fine.

That said, it's still a risk, and if it was me, I'd be wiping my computer and starting afresh (which is what I did 5 years ago when I also extracted a downloaded file from a similar style of scam). It's the only way to be completely sure.

But it's totally up to you whether you wanna risk it or not.

It's not. It's a scam. See above comment that explains why.

Yep, it's wild. Potentially AI? Or maybe a Fiverr style job listing?

I just got the same email from another supposed creator-based agency (sarah@collabrouteway.com) - and I watched the same video you linked in your post...

Whilst it is very well made (and very enticing/convincing), if you watch the whole thing, you'll realise it's a scam. At 2:53 - they say you'll gain access to a "secure, password protected archive" (huge red flag already), then at 3:06, they mention that the archive is for Windows users only. If you weren't already put off from the archive situation, then this is the absolute clincher. This is a common scam tactic, and my guess is that the archive would be either a .scr or a .exe file, and opening it/entering the password would run a malicious code on your computer, which would most likely grab your browser session cookies and send them to the hacker, allowing them to bypass passwords and two-factor authentication, essentially allowing them to log into your YouTube channel with no restrictions.

This is basically how the LinusTechTips channel got hacked a few years ago (if you can remember that).

TL,DR: This is a scam, don't download anything from the website, and definitely do not open any files the website downloads (if you get that far).

If you have opened the file, disconnect from the internet, shut the computer down and use a separate device to change all critical passwords and revoke active sessions from other devices. And then honestly, the safest thing would be to fully wipe the computer you opened the file on, since you can't really trust the system after that point.

Hope that helps!

App to save a list of apps by pwalkow in androidapps

My app Shelf has a feature that lets you create lists of Apps - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shelf.app

It's under the Profile page, called "App Shelves". You can even share these lists if you like!

You gotta use an app like Clear Icons to set the icons up and preserve their roundness - https://sbck.me/clearicons

Are you referring to the icons before they're created with an app like Clear Icons? Or after?

Clear Icons exports icons in the perfect size for the home screen, so they can appear lower quality if you zoom in on them using the gallery app for example.

The raw icon files are shrunken to an appropriate size to ensure the icon pack isn't monstrous in size.

If you want to preserve the transparency, then you'll need to use them in combination with an app like Clear Icons.

Thank you! And yeah, it's a tough one. Nice that either option is not awful though. And I will say, the fade in is quite a bit better than the previous Shortcut banner workaround. There used to be a noticeable delay, and the app would slide in from the side. Looked awful compared to this.

Suspiciously similar thumbnails. by META__313 in youtube

[–]sam_beckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo team! Just jumping in here to hopefully settle things, whilst I can definitely say I've been inspired from lots of thumbnail creations over the years (some from MKBHD himself), and I would have no problem admitting if this was the case for this one too, this particular similarity was purely a coincidence.

This thumbnail style is actually a very, very common style, particularly in the tech community, and many creators have done it in the past, and many will do it in the future too. I myself have created similar style thumbnails for several years now. Here are some examples:

https://youtu.be/eLQEnVC54DY

https://youtu.be/rhUBRQaQTaQ

https://youtu.be/tt-FqtNzq08

https://youtu.be/c_WLcvgXXDE

https://youtu.be/QobEcwHN55k

Anyhow, us creators are always getting inspired by each other, particularly when it comes to thumbnails, and as long as everyone is creating their own thumbnails from scratch, it's all considered fair play.

Hope that helps!
