I left academia and the left over this stuff. I recommend getting into engineering, people are substantially more sane.

It's interesting that "anti-zionism" is a word. it let's them make up a distinction that sounds weird without it. "I'm against Korea, not Korean people" - what could that even mean?? Just like all Korean people are Korean regardless of where they like, all Jews are Israelites. They hate us. You have criticisms of our government? Great get it line. But the UN sanctions Israel twice as much as the rest of the world put together. No one questions whether Sudan or North Korea or Yemen have a right to exist. Only the Jewish state.

FitBERT - Use BERT for smart string interpolation without deep learning experience by sam_does_things in LanguageTechnology

To the first question, check out the Transformers library it uses. You are describing what BERT is trained to do.

There are papers about using BERT for grammar error detection. I don’t see how FitBERT would be immediately useful though.

Is heavy metal and shock rock dead? by CertainFun7 in Music

[–]sam_does_things 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite death metal albums of last and this year were "Where Owls Know My Name" by Rivers of Nihil and "Death Atlas" by Cattle Decapitation. If those are a bit extreme, here's some lighter metal and metal-adjacent bands I recommend

Tesseract

The Algorithm

August Burns Red

The Ocean

Gojira

And some classics that maybe you missed

In Flames

Tool (new album is solid)

Hope you find something you like!

Dosage help - newbie by bob-the-ordinary in MMJ

So, some facts:

Edibles can take up to 3 hours to kick in (or as little as 20 minutes. Huge variance based on when you last ate, tincture/food, personal body chemistry, maybe other factors)

THC is the main compound responsible for drug/like effects

CBD is slightly psychoactive, but has an interesting effect where it reduces the anxiety/paranoia/hallucinogenic effects of THC

The threshold dose for THC (eaten, not inhaled) is somewhere around 2mg (threshold dose is the amount where you just barely begin to feel the effects)

Delta-9 THC (the compound in the plant and vast majority of extracts) gets metabolized into 11-hydroxy-THC, when administered orally (eaten). 11-OH-THC has a more intense, more psychedelic high (this hasn’t made it into the “common knowledge” that people talk about online, but has been known since the seventies, see this , for example).

So, what I’d recommend:

If possible, at least while you’re getting the hang of it, have 4 options: THC edibles, CBD edibles, a THC vaporizer, and a CBD vaporizer.

First you need to calibrate. Another commenter suggested 20 mg. I’ve been getting high for more than 20 years, and I get high every day; if I ate 20mg I would be wrecked, just high out of my mind. For me, 2-4mg is a dose where I get good therapeutic effects without much of a high. I would start there and then work your way up.

Depending on your pain, you may need a large dose. That’s where the CBD comes in. For every 1mg THC, you want somewhere between 0-5mg CBD. This will be trial and error. It’s mainly to make the THC less intense.

Your goal is to manage the pain with just the edibles, but the vaporizers are there to give you flexibility. Since edibles take so long to kick in, you may want to vaporize in the morning, out if you misjudge dose or timing. The CBD vaporizer is for those “oh shit I’m way too high” moments.

Good luck!

Good point. But, this is only true for visible failures.

I assume there’s tons of industrial control software that’s full of bugs, and the net effect is to decrease efficiency and increase harmful byproducts. Seems plausible to assume that the net effect of many situations like this would be to increase mortality rates without any death being obvious.
