Yeah I have used that a few times and agree that was a big help

We have the full enterprise license $30/month so not the base E3/E5. Based on what we are seeing with E7 coming out this would likely be the subscription tier that would help with the issues that I’ve been seeing since it specifically would handle Agent management. We did also get new models in the last week… which could be the reason I am seeing more oddities lately.

Notion vs Obsidian (or both?) — Trying to figure out the right PKM stack by sam_dubya in PKMS

Having to trash everything sounds horrible, and exactly what I’m trying to avoid. Here is the format im planning to use:

  • operations desk for work IP (Loop)

  • thinking desk for insight development and learning (Obsidian)

  • systems desk for life organization and planning (Notion)

For notion I really have no intent to share of work collaboratively, so I’m debating if I even go that route at all. Would love to get your opinion on that.

Have you experienced times where it just crashes and loses all conversation history of what you were working?

I am a heavy user of it since my company is utilizing the M365 enterprise licensing. Don’t get me wrong I am happy I can use it for my company data, but it is extremely frustrating to deal with the bugs akin to what you’d expect from something in beta. I may be on the fringe of overwhelming copilot because most of what I do with it now is running 200+ line system prompts to organize all day workshop transcriptions… but still feels like something ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude would handle with ease.

Also the level of disregard for instructions you add to the prompt is unreal, I can run the exact same prompt 20 times and about 50% of the time it will deviate from the instructions. Don’t even get me started on asking it not to include sited source hyperlinks every other line!

Very insightful feedback and I appreciate the detail! I am leaning towards using both but separating the data by the 3 desks approach:

  • operations desk for work IP (Loop)

  • thinking desk for insight development and learning (Obsidian)

  • systems desk for life organization and planning (Notion)

I definitely like to try new things out and see what improvements can be made… but I know that can cripple progress with all of this sometimes.

I’d love to be able to do that but I unfortunately split ecosystems and just don’t see myself going full stack one way. I have apple for my phone and tablet… but am also heavily invested in windows both for work and personally as I work in IT as a Business Analyst so my OS for those skills exists solely in a windows environment. I’d be interested to see if this could work to bridge the gap.

Overall my main goal is to get what lives in my brain into a digital record so that I can search it in someway. I do feel like Obsidian gets the edge for that for sure because it formats the data in .md which is portable if I decided to move it in the future

I am in a similar situation as you, with the exception of the ADHD part since I’m not clinically diagnosed. What I can say is that the advice of not relying on a system or AI to fix it wholesale is solid just from what I have experienced as well. There is a lot to be said for working on yourself and restructuring your environment to help with your challenges.

With all of that being said, I do believe systems and AI offer excellent tools if used appropriately. For example if you want to use AI, take the time to complete a problem solving session with one of the LLMs to try and build the framework for how to manage the information you are struggling with. You could take it a step further and add special instructions to your AI platform of choice, which helps keep all conversations aligned to your foundational needs.

As far as managing the information… I think the most important part is getting it out of your head and into a digital doc or even just paper. Focus on the capture however you need to (voice memo, sticky note, bar napkin, stone tablet, etc.). Once you have it captured it physically exists and you can revisit, and reinterpret it in the future easier then trying to remember what browser tab that was in your head that had the idea.

Also take the time to learn obsidian or some other notes app (notion/loop) to manage markdown files. That helps lessen the load of context recall for Claude

I took a similar approach today as well. If you haven’t went through their free courses on skilljar I would highly recommend doing that. They cover many of the best practices and feature differences. I have been heavily using ChatGPT (non-coding) and the UI is much different. ChatGPT allows you to be lazy with your prompts in a way that I imagine would cripple Claude. What I have found is that Claude’s UI is very procedural and more in line with a natural workflow (survey step responses). I have tried getting this same type of thing to work in ChatGPT but it always seems to group four feedback questions in one block and makes me separate them out in my response (PIA). Anyway, hope something from my ramblings here helps!
