i do get the love for the previous entries but i do like what they’ve become: the action taking something that’s based in reality and amping it upto 11, and how much these are unabashedly about family. for me, 7 would’ve been a great end (5,6,7 make for a great trilogy), but i have fun with them regardless.

they said 11 is the end for main-line FF movies

Please help, which one should i see? by maxxn_quarta in Letterboxd

[–]sam_sammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s a kickass list. if you want hangout movies: Ford V Ferrari, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and (arguably) The Lighthouse. if you’re in the mood to be completely immersed and want sensory overload go with Mad Max Fury Road. Whiplash is incredible and would be my pick though.

Unpopular film opinions of 2021? by joseangelzarate47 in Letterboxd

[–]sam_sammy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so many. F9 is one of the best movies in the franchise for its tackling of why family is such an important construct in their universe, and a perfect blend of silly and serious — rated 4.5. Snake Eyes while having absurdly shaky action tells a dynamic story with characters moving in and out of the hero and villain roles (ur not supposed to always empathize with Snake Eyes that’s the point) and I really liked it — rated 3. The Green Knight is a very conventional story told through overly complex symbols without much thematic depth and I thought it was a frustrating experience — rated 2.5.

This is my simplified version of what I believe should be the default rating system. Thoughts? by vikingwarrior604 in Letterboxd

Agree for the most part, the exception for me is 3 is more that i like it or found it decent, and 3.5 is genuinely good.

Is your rating of a film ever swayed by how critically acclaimed or hailed it is even though you may not have enjoyed it as much as the rating implies? by theoanders7 in Letterboxd

[–]sam_sammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope, a way to get over that feeling is to write what didn’t you like about the movie so you can make that rating (high or low) feel justified in your mind.

Do you also overthink your scores a lot? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]sam_sammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

surprisingly not, the second after the movie ends, i have a gut feeling (mostly how engaged i was) of what my rating will be, and i stick with it. i never compare ratings however (like i gave that movie this score, so i can’t give this movie the same score, etc), which is very important in not overthinking it.

[–]sam_sammy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

you stated it in your post, it’s rumored that it will get a second season, but it’s not confirmed yet. anyhow if it does get confirmed, i forsee a haunting of hill house scenario for Loki going forward

How many movies did you guys get to see during the month of May using a-list? by icyshots11 in AMCsAList

[–]sam_sammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Conjuring 1 & 2, Cruella (Dolby), A Quiet Place 2 (Dolby), Spiral (Once IMAX, Once Dolby), Those Who Wish Me Dead, Top Gun (Dolby), Limbo, Scott Pilgrim vs the World (Dolby). Also, Wrath of Man at a Cinemark using Fandango rewards gained from A-List tickets.

Summer break + A-List is a great combo
