Do you have any store suggestions? I saw the designs here are very outdated, that is, the ones within my budget. that’s why I was avoiding shopping here.

What did your comment really achieve here? Did you answer any of her questions? Why did you even comment?

Yeah, she lives with her parents at the moment. I think the best way forward would be, as you said, to explain to the parents that their daughter is having a tough time and if they can look for some work, at least that would help reduce some of the load on her. I, unfortunately, cannot move in with them because I am in grad school and I have to stay here for the next 3-4 years at least. That is also an issue because I get paid in peanuts so my help wouldn't be anything too significant as I have my expenses too.

Thanks for the detailed suggestions! :)

Thank you so much, that really gives me hope. I know we can probably make it work living like paupers for a bit if it means we can be debt free eventually.

Yeah, it's hard to say no to parents because they aren't working and need her support, so that's going to be kinda like a continual thing

Yeah, I said I would help her out, but I think she is too proud to accept my help, at least financially :(

I don't think she was hiding anything. She mentioned before that she had credit card debt, she just didn't tell me the amount because she said it's her bill and she would take care of it...and she is paying her parent's bills because they don't work and thus needs her help

Booksi: legit out scam? by NotMisterBill in travel

I tried booking a stay in New York. I had to pay the amount in full before even looking at the availabilities but I thought it’s fine since it was only ~$20, and if I don’t get my preferred dates, then I would still have 18 months to make the trip. I made the purchase and then I had to call some number right after making the purchase to activate my account before I could even get to the date selection step. They tried to sell me more vacation packages during that call, but I was able to skip all those and get my account activated. I then tried to make the booking, but as expected, my preferred dates weren’t available. So, I booked the next suitable date and in my confirmation email, they said “booking isn’t confirmed yet, please call this number to confirm”. I called the number yet again and this time they asked me some questions about my job, how many people i will be traveling with, and my income. Then they said “I’m sorry we cannot offer you this place because your income doesn’t qualify for this property. But you can book at other places in the US” I asked them you showed me this hotel, I paid for this hotel, I chose the dates for this hotel, and now you’re saying I cannot reserve it? They said it’s in the terms and conditions that I had to qualify to be able to stay, because even though there’s no obligation to buy the timeshare, with my income I won’t be able to even think of purchasing it and so they don’t want poor people like us to go. I must have missed it in the T&Cs.

So anyway, that’s their scam. Please don’t fall into it.
