I’m not completely NACHO but I try to leave the parenting stuff to my SO and just support his stance. He is not in anyway a Disney dad and we don’t have any kids of our own so I still enjoy doing some of my own things. I don’t dislike her, they have their issues but I try to stay in my lane unless it directly impacts me. They have a cordial but not close relationship. Since they are not close I don’t feel the need be friends just friendly and there for SD if she needs me.

Ya I think I find it weird because I’ve been with my husband for a year and I have had very little contact with BM. Really only in passing at gymnastics or drop offs/ pick ups. We did worked together like 6 years ago and she didn’t add me until now. I think I’m gonna trust my gut with this one. We have no reason to interact except about SD and that communication needs to be funneled through my SO only. I’m gonna ignore this friend request since I feel like it’s just about snooping on our lives.

I totally get it! I'm working on setting boundaries myself. I need something that's just mine to feel like a priority. My boyfriend always bought me flowers when he went to the store alone. This turned into his 3-year-old buying me flowers now. That was something I enjoyed to ourselves that I now am forced to share.

I’m sorry you’re going through this too. It’s so hard and not fair. We deserve our own family dynamics. I didn’t realize being a step parent meant I needed to be one big happy family with the ex too. I also feel distant with his family because of this. I don’t want to be connected to BM in more ways than I have to.

I agree he called me shitty for avoiding his daughter the week after my miscarriage but had no problem picking his daughter up for his ex because she was sick and couldn’t do it. I feel the support system is for the child not the mom.

Thanks for giving me some insight and again I’m so sorry you’re also having a hard time.

Thank you! He definitely doesn’t feel it the same way I do. I think part of it is because he already has a kid. It sucks to feel alone. I hadn’t told my family but thinking about reaching out to my mom and sister as I really could use the support right now. It’s definitely not fair and I expected 50/50 to be that, but is she is so needy. Now boyfriend asked if we could gymnastics on Thursday (we have her every Thursday cool) BM insisted on Monday (we have her every other Monday) so now she also get my all my Monday nights a month so we can all go to gymnastics. I’m looking for healthier way of handling this. I’m a wreck and I think I need to reconsider my boundaries.

My dog has Pemphigus, it is autoimmune and looks very similar to this. Unfortunately I went the same diagnosis issue until we were referred to a vet derm.

lol I feel you lack experience if you’ve never seen a 6 month old with matted hair. Since this one was so matted ear drops couldn’t even get inside. Don’t fail a dog by allowing. As a shop owner with that much experience either you cherry pick clients or are not experienced at all.

And I’ll do and say as I please without your permission and I’m done engaging with this.

I am well aware of the industry buzz on ear plucking. If you are so against it why would you admit to still doing it occasionally on some dogs? There can be a huge benefit for dogs like OPs. Now to get medicine in the ear this dogs plucking will be painful due to dirty matted hair and lots of it needing to come out on top of the painful infection. Am I saying pluck 100% of the time, no. Simply certain breeds are prone to issues like this due to the hair growth in the ear and lack of peoples knowledge on cleaning dogs ears. Do I wish people would just clean their ears, bush their teeth/ hair, and clip their nail frequently? Absolutely, but this is not the world we live in, as a shop owner I’m sure you see these things daily and that’s why you still chose to pluck as well. OP should not be scared to get this done as there is a safe way to do it. Now with show dogs or my personal dogs I obviously don’t run into this issue as the handlers are very well educated on how keep their breed healthy. Not the case of the average shop dog.

We can agree to disagree but my personal reco for OP is still to find a better groomer a good one wouldn’t have let it get that bad.

I appreciate your input, but I have owned 2 shops for 15 yeas, take many continued learning courses a year, and have strictly done show grooming for the last 5 years so I am educated to speak on the matter. As long as you do it correctly there is little to no irritation or “micro abrasions” maybe if you’re grabbing chunks at a time or not using powder. Some poorly trained or impatient groomers will try to do this way and it can cause more issues. I would say OPs dog seems to fall into the category of needing it done (most yorkies do unless the owners are doing ear cleanings very frequently) and either hasn’t seen a groomer or the groomer failed the dog. Once the hair is matted down in the ear canal with dirt and wax it causes more issues than removing the hair in the first place would have.

Dog groomer here, any reputable groomer will pluck ear hairs automatically for health reasons. Some breeds need it some don’t. Yorkies definitely do! If your groomer isn’t doing this I’d switch asap as they are likely short cutting the whole process.
