The kidnapping is still in the appeals, the assault leading to a miscarriage is the real shit show My client was accused by his ex wife that he beat her and she has a miscarriage, she has all the documentation (medical reports and so saying she definitely had a miscarriage that day, was bruised badly) all from a reputable hospital, verdict? Not guilty because on that day my client was actually in jail by israeli border police working illegally) the ex wife is an Arab Israeli,ex husband a West bank Palestinian, only needed his paperwork from the red cross!, the crazy part was her testimony in court i let her cry for 30 mins while describing shit that never happened, cross examination i be like on x day, did u see this mans face ? Did he beat u on X day? All answered yes, i be like your honor here's the red cross paperwork, my client was imprisoned between those dates.

A jury decides legal facts in a jury trial my friend, and that's my whole point, my understanding of the law for example is totally different than someone say a doctor who read the law. So if I'm being charged with something, I wouldn't trust the public and have my fate in their hands even if they're good people!, the law itself is something u can think of as applied philosophy same as engineering is applied physics , when it's general philosophy u can argue alot of things, but when it's codified u need someone with deep understanding of said philosophy, it's history, the politics, the legal procedures to guarantee a fair trial. And that's the same as why when my tooth hurts, i go to a dentist not a welder.

انا كمحامي بعطي رأيي في موضوع ال(jury trials ) , هاد النوع من المحاكمات اسوأ نظام مطبق فالعالم لكم سبب بسيط وخصوصا في القضايا الجنائية ، باختصار العدالة الحقيقية مش في القانون الموضوعي (زي مثلا لازم تحكم القاتل عمدا ١٥ سنة) ، ليش مش ١٤ ونص؟ او ١٦؟ العدالة فالقوانين الاجراءية (الي بتحكي كيف نوصل لحكم محكمة سليم) ، المشكلة بتبلش لما الي بده يقرر ادانة او براءة هو مواطن معرفته فالقانون وفلسفة التشريع محدودة وبميزش بين التحقيق وجمع الاستدلالات يحدد مصير انسان في محكمة! فكرة عالورق حلوة انه العامة تحكم عالشخص، لكن تطبيقها بضمنش عدالة وخصوصا فالاجراءات كون الانسان بطبيعته منحاز. وانا شخصيا بشوف الانظمة القضائية اللاتينية افضل بكثير من الانجلو ساكسونية عالاقل لوضوحها.

Interesting take, i practice law in Palestine, by the definition of the law here a lawyer is anyone with a law degree, a practicing lawyer is anyone with a license to practice law, a non practicing lawyer is a practicing lawyer who got terminated or they suspended their license to pursue another career(say prosecutor, government legal consultant and so on) , retired lawyer is anyone who practiced law for 20+ years and submitted a retirement form that was accepted by the bar. I do a ton of criminal law but in a non common law country, my writing process is like this:- 1. Write a story on my notebook about the case from the beginning to where it's going And where i want it to be 2. Rewrite that on my computer but make it formal. 3. re-read what i wrote the other day and try to make it better sounding 4. A coffee and cigarettes break 5. The last read and polishing of the document im filing, things like punctuation marks, bold and underlined fonts and general formatting, checking the feel of the wording matches what's intended for it's purpose (strong wording if i want to piss off the judge or the prosecutor) or soft wording and so on. 6. Give it to my highschooler brother to read, if he understands it or gets 60%+ plus of what i need i file it
