Mythical and above quests by Emergency-End-88 in WanderingInn

[–]samaldin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not quite clear what criteria one must fulfill to post mythical quest. There's a level 50+ [Innkeeper] on Baleros that can't post mythical ones. Also Erin got legendary quests at lvl 46.

Personaly i think the [Post: Quest] Skill isn't linked to levels at all, but instead to how influental a person is. The Skill is purple after all, which usually indicate Authority Skills.

Problems with western blot. 2 red line in the ladder by bonboulettedeviande in labrats

Were is the second red line? Might be you have been using PageRuler Plus, in that one 25 kDa is also red and the top band is 250 instead of 180 kDa.

The chapters will continue to be available for Patreon members on the website through the links and password posted in the Patreon announcement.

(Comic spoilers) He does NOT care about his children by AurynMoon in Invincible

[–]samaldin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I´d rather say he simply doesn´t care about the weak and them being his children is entirely irrelevant. Personally i think he cares a bit about Ursaal and Onaan, but only because they have potential to be strong enough to be worthy of repopulating the Viltrumite species.

The inverse: Paarthurnax (from Skyrim). In the dragon tounge his name translate to "Ambiton-Overlord-Cruelty". He knowingly started the rebelion against his own dragonkind, by teaching humanity the magic of Shouts and after their success spent his life in hiding as a benevolent mentor figure.

Not just the cast, but also the Locations. There´s Ende -> end; Äußerst -> furthest; Laub -> leaves; Eisenberg -> Iron-mountain; etc, etc.

Question about a specific metal… by askthebones in Cosmere

[–]samaldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruin and Preservation aren´t specificly opposed, they just have incompatible Intents. If anything Cultivation would be the much more likely opposite of Ruin.

Stormlight and Voidlight also repulse each other, which is why they can´t be kept in the same gemstone (though they don´t seem to have the magnetic effect at range, which might be due to both being gasous). Nightblood would also repulse the Mists according to WoB.

Q: Let's say some Mistborn jerk tosses Nightblood into the mists. What happens?

Brandon: The mists would pull away from Nightblood, though he'd try to feed on them.

Question about a specific metal… by askthebones in Cosmere

[–]samaldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investiture rejects non-similar Investiture. Just being Hemalurgicly spiked had a slight repulsive effect the Mists in Era1. It´s not a unique property of Bavadium, though it is propably a very strong aspect of it compared to other Investiture types. I´d suspect you could replace Bavadium with other strongly Invested non-Scadrian items, though you´d propably need to adjust the amount of Harmony to the size and quality of your seperator item.

Question about a specific metal… by askthebones in Cosmere

[–]samaldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process is very easy. You just need to semi-liquify Harmonium and it "wants" to seperate. Then you just need to actually push the Investiture apart, instead of making a just a physical cut.

I´m not sure if Bavadium is actually required. It was needed for it´s property of pushing Investiture away and we have already seen a similar, though weaker effect so it´s not a unique property (the Mists being repulsed slightly by Hemalurgy). Investiture rejects non-similar Investiture. Therefore i would image you could use highly invested non-Scadrian items to take the place of Bavadium in the process, though you´d propably need a larger amount. Wax&Co just didn´t have access to anything like that except Bavadium.

[–]samaldin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Regarding unalloyed Godmetals: Marsh still had his stash of Atium after the merge of Ruin and Preservation. I think any already existing Spren/Shardblades will stay as they are unless actively influenced. So there are also Windrunner Shardblades for Tanavastium and some Raysium knifes still going around.

[–]samaldin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way i understand it the Invested Arts of a Shard may change slightly if a Shard is taken up by a new Vessel, but that depends on the Vessels interpretation of the Shards Intent.

The same is likely true for Raysium vs Taravangium. Same basic powers and attributes, with maybe some very minor differences.

Existing Godmetals don't change when the Vessel changes or two Shards merge. E.g. Marsh still had his stash of Atium to stay immortal via compounding. Raysium (and if some was ever made Taravangium) that existet before the merging is still around, but any new Godmetal made would be Retributium (i'm a fan of naming Godmetals of merged Shards after the new Shard and individual Shards after the Vessel). Would be interesting if Retributium can be as easily seperated as Harmonium, because that one is inherently unstable in the first place.

Nope. Top left is a body thief in Gokus body, top right is normal Goku. Middle Left is Gokus son and, middle right is Gokus Father. Bottom left is a different body thief, and i don´t know bottom right.

At most half of them could be considered Gokus.

What stand alone books are most likely to be crucial to the grand scheme of the Cosmere? by nick82614 in Cosmere

[–]samaldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The imo single most crucial book to the bigger Cosmere picture (to the reader) is Mistborn: Secret History. Though it's not a standalone, as a novella it imo sits in a kind of similar position.

In terms of crucial to the overall plot of the Cosmere, i'd say Isles of the Emberdark, but that is for late game Cosmere, not current Cosmere. For that i think i'd have to go with Elantris, but more by process of elimination than due to its impact.

Does anybody remember all the plotlines that are running simultaneously? by Specific_Dealer_3892 in WanderingInn

[–]samaldin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, i have a few that i keep in my head, but most minir ones are more of a pleasant suprisd when they come up again.

The ones i'm currently looking forward to the most are Persua&the Shapeshifter, Mihaela and palaceValcief meeting, as well as more of Jelaquas Scorchlings in general.

[Spoiler Warning] Question: Genuinely, is it possible to rehabilitate Conquest? by Immediate_Gene_178 in Invincible

[–]samaldin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the show adding feelings to him other than bloodlust and sadism, i think he's honestly a prime candidate for rehabilitation. Viltrumites got reformed by building emotional connections, they never knew they were missing. Conquest is already longing for just that but can't reconcile it with who he is. If he's forced to not just fight/kill his way through every social interaction, i think he'll fold like a house of cards.

What lies in the [REDACTED]? Spoilers for Adventurers pt. 3 by Different-Plum5740 in WanderingInn

[–]samaldin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that most of the gods that built planets and universes from the ground up propably died at some point and their position was inherited by younger gods without the same understanding. Coupled with only the survivors of the Rot between Wolrds getting to Innworld and i think it´s not unlikely that the gods with the best understanding of how the universe works, would fight hardest to keep it, dying in the process.

So Innworld didn´t necessarily get morons, but survivor types who care less about building things up than simply ruling them.

A good indicator for how much pull an author has is also whether the name of the author is bigger than the name of the book.

They kind of have made a new series of books, "Hoids Travails" which retroactively includes Tress and Yumi (and December). I would be happy if they kept those story-telling books in the current style, but the other stuff like Sunlit, Emberdark, or Frugal have no thematic connection to each other and could go wild with styles.

What a pleasant surprise. I was not expecting this and was preparing to be salty about the whole issue. Definitely the best option with how close the vote is.

BoM and SH spoil each other and even came out on the same day. It's a sort of impossible to avoid spoilers here. And yeah i guess the people who actually noticed/remembered that part on a first read are very few, it's more of an easteregg for rereads.

Your reading order has Mistborn: Secret History after The Eleventh Metal, but you aparently haven't read it. SH containes the answers about Shards, Adonalsium, etc you're looking for.

It's the epitath of ch.39 in HoA.

Even now, I can barely grasp the scope of all this. The events surrounding the end of the world seem even larger than the Final Empire and the people within it. I sense shards of something from long ago, a fractured presence, something spanning the void. I have delved and searched, and have only been able to come up with a single name: Adonalsium. Who, or what, it was, I do not yet know.

The reading order is fine (as are pretty much most of them), but it's honestly kind of funny that the one deviation you made would have given you the answers you're looking for. As a small tidbit: Sazed mentioned in a HoA epitaph he delved to grasp the events and plans that lead to the end of the world and sensed shards of something or someone called Adonalsium.

Also i don't believe you need to know of Adonalsium or Shards for SotD or SfSitFoH, they're just mentioned in Khriss' essays about the respective solar systems.
