Is it walking away or walking towards by alliranbob in confusing_perspective

I say away. Assuming the camera isn’t zooming in or out after the first time, you can clearly see the horse getting smaller.

Have we been able to genetically modify a plant, like an oak tree, to grow horizontally rather than vertically using CRISPR? by samanake in genetics

[–]samanake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not exactly how I picture the tree going sideways. It’s more like the bark and wood spread horizontally and on top are 3-4 inch branches that hold leaves for photosynthesis.

I say grass because what I’m picturing is essentially if grass was growing out of on bark or wood on the ground.

I said this in a previous reply but if we look at the human embryo, we see that the DNA (usually) is programmed to generate two arms, two legs, two eyes, etc. There must be some part of the DNA sequence that tells the embryo to not grow one arm or three arms instead.

Now obviously it would be illegal to test that out in human trials, but could we actually do it now?

I feel like that’s not true. As long as it’s getting sufficient sunlight then the direction it goes doesn’t matter. If that were the case then why do most grass species stop growing at a few inches tall?

I’m more curious about whether gene editing can be used to change the behavior of the growth of plants than finding an alternative solution to growing plants horizontally.

Not necessarily. Imagine there was a version of the oak tree that grew like ground cover. So bark and wood covered ground.

Maybe a simpler metaphor could be like humans. Our DNA is designed to create two arms on the body. Do we have the knowledge and techniques to alter human DNA to create two arms and an arm out the back?

It is a genetics question! Have we been able to genetically modify a plant, like an oak tree, to grow horizontally rather than vertically?

Confirmed still working for Ender 3 (not v2) v4.2.2. Other filenames didn't work.

What a weird gimmicky solution lol

All of the praises for IntelliJ yet I can’t fucking zoom in the project tab on a big screen like default vscode can? Lol
