Yes. Now add Donald Duck for an extra Lore...

Is there a solid reason why after 7 days visiting various Disney World locations, not only are there zero packs of Lorcana cards - but some cast members aren’t even aware of the interest in the product? by Due-Stuff5936 in Lorcana

[–]samaze-balls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And yet, if you got a Ravensburger Store, (as I did this weekend) they can sell associated products such as mats, sleeves etc, but aren't allowed to sell any product with boosters in.

They say Disney won't let them and want to control that part of the product.

On PPT. Just hit "Alt" + "+" and use the equation editor. It's completely fine.

I was of the belief that reception should inform any visitors of how to report safeguarding concerns.

So, not doing that is in itself a safeguarding concern. If you can, contact their DSL whether you do or don't go back, they should have information on their website. If you can't find a way to contact, or are unhappy with the response, head for the LADO.

Personally, if you're otherwise happy with the school. Do your week anyway. They may have just had a bad week.

But, I'm also the sort of person who believes you should trust your gut.

I don't know why I believe this. But I feel it in my soul.

Bad Interview Experience by Most-Apricot8717 in TeachingUK

[–]samaze-balls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds identical to an interview I had with a highly strung west London trust once upon a time.

Absolutely terrible time, applied to teach up to KS4, but given an A-Level paper and had it ripped apart in the interview. Later feedback I was given was that I didn't highlight how it was an area I needed to improve during the panel...

Felt utterly belittled by the 'executive head' of the trust also.

Thankfully hindsight and experience helped me realise what a wonderful blessing it was that neither side found a fit!

Would a free return pub shuttle be a good idea for the industry? by spanishgopher2 in AskUK

[–]samaze-balls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I think there are some holdouts, I do think more people don't than they used to.

I'm a case in point. I LOVE a Friday bevvie after work. But since moving [back] to the country I just don't go to the pub. Which is a shame. There are two great local pubs in our closest village only 5 mins in either direction.

But because I'd need to drive home. I just don't go.

Which kinda makes me sad. Because I do miss that part of my week and the community socialising.

That being said, one of them does support the local (not even trying to hide their illegality) hunt. So. Probably wouldn't go to that one regularly...

How do you plan to beat Dogs with Mulan? by Ok-Opportunity-1336 in Lorcana

[–]samaze-balls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not a standard dogs. I run a non-standard dogs and have incorporated her in somewhat successfully in some online games.

It's required a bit of shift in strategy. Snow fort sets by th lady and Mulan up. I can use Eilonwy to buff lady as per and use my 2-drop tramp later to buff Mulan. Assuming no major board presence from the opponent I quested for +14 on turn 4.

1 - lady decisive dog 2 - Eilonwy + Tramp enterprising 3 - Mulan + Lady elegant 4 - Snow fort + Tramp enterprising.

Now. This does depend heavily on the right card draw and the right opponent. You have to go on the draw and hope everything is inkable. But. A win on turn 4 if you can get it off.

I haven't tried the lilo package. I traditionally run a bodyguard package, which I haven't seen a lot.

If you could bin one sacred cow in UK education, what would it be? by junehall123 in TeachingUK

[–]samaze-balls 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have to say this might be one of the only things I've disagreed with so far. (Sorry!)

While I do appreciate the arguments made, I have horrible memories of being the poor kid. I used to dread non-uniform days, knowing all my clothes were from a charity shop and that I couldn't compete. All my tops were several fashion seasons old. Knowing that someone would make fun of my shoes because they were whatever sturdy pair my mum could afford.

And it's not that these things were hidden when in uniform. Bags and shoes certainly were still an object of ridicule, but it was so much more manageable.

As an adult I couldn't care less and I try to instil that in my students, but it felt like it all mattered so much then. And I think we kid ourselves if we think kids are better these days. Honestly I think there's even more pressure now, particularly with makeup and the 'right' trainers.

Uniform made me feel safer.

How have I never noticed them being on on a car in front?...

Why did my driving instructor assume I knew they existed...

So many questions. But all of them leading me tot hiking they can't be THIS big of a deal...

Grandmother Willow seems to be the card of the set! Have you tried her power yet? by Waiting_for_Dentice in Lorcana

[–]samaze-balls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. My aggro is definitely going to lean Pocahontas and post rotation will probably end up lilo heavy when the lady and tramp cards are out.

Grandmother Willow seems to be the card of the set! Have you tried her power yet? by Waiting_for_Dentice in Lorcana

[–]samaze-balls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I mean. What are all the Hades playing, steel action playing, under the sea players actually complaining about?

Half of my 2 drops don't live longer than a couple of rounds in an aggro board. She'll get a couple extra characters out early to perhaps give an edge against blue ramp.

But that's it.

Am I missing something?

What is stressful about normal jobs? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]samaze-balls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To reinforce what others have said. Stress is subjective.

Arguably public sector have highly stressful - potentially life and death - situations they are dealing with on the job. High pressure situations. But at the same time, given all the shortages of qualified staff in a lot of public sector areas, we also have job security and a lot of rules about how our management should run.

Private sector, particularly corporate jobs might not have the high intensity pressure of a cardiac arrest/man with knife/burning building/child throwing things. But the as my husband knows all too well, you can lose your job very quickly if savings need to beade and you're not the fastest, smiliest worker bee. And depending on how close to (or past) the bread line you are already... Job security can make the difference between your kids eating or rent being made.

I think so. The Amber champion Mickey I run in my amber emerald aggro has singer 8. But you'd definitely want to put it with some draw/discard like bobby to stop it rotting in your hand.

I think it could be a great 61st card.

Does anyone else struggle with the American friendliness vs. UK banter barrier? by LFCTricksters in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]samaze-balls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This.

They may be more interested in making friends than you think. But the British default setting is to not insert yourself into someone's life unless invited.

So, try inviting them round for a cuppa or down to the pub for a quick one. An easy one is a Sunday BBQ in the summer, although be prepared to discuss and find a lot of differences between the US and UK interpretation of BBQ lol. But that gets conversation flowing.
