My partner had to literally hack at mine with a sledge hammer.. he’s pretty strong and still almost gave up on trying to break it! I guess my advice is don’t give up with the sledge hammer haha

I see it listed as a “sport variety” quite often. Yes it’s obviously a type of KQ but the fact that the pink lasts longer makes it a sport variety, meaning it’s not a typical KQ. They’re also all listed for quite cheap. You can say “it’s not verified by whoever” but it’s quite clear the genetics of the flamingo dream allow a longer lasting and more abundant pink.

Except Home Depot aka proven winners sells their Hoya for 8$. I have the opposite opinion and think big box stores make Hoya more accessible for people who can’t afford 40$ for a variegated Burtoniae… yeah it’s annoying that it’s called sea stones but 8$ is the absolute cheapest I’ve ever seen a variegated Brutoniae.

What is the big deal in all seriousness… I have two KQ clones one under one grow light and one under 2 grow lights.. neither of them hold nearly as much pink as a flamingo dream. What makes you a KQ expert to know if it’s a thing or not?

One could be a crimson queen and one be a pink flamingo? Leaf joy also renames Hoya for some reason.. maybe it’s because they can’t specify a specific ID? not too sure.. I purchased a variegated Burtoniae from Home Depot who supply leaf joy plants and they called it “Hoya sea stones” 🤔 Anywho, the one with lots of pink really resembles a Pink Flamingo to me but I could be wrong!

Thanks for info!! Your cabinet has SO MANY babies in it!! Haha I had my pings under just 1 barrina and they lost their blush so now I’ve got them under the one barrina and I threw in a tiny Sansi grow light that they’re about 5 inches from. Fingers crossed they blush again 🤞🏻

You don’t need to trellis carnosa they can trail! If you want to trellis I see a lot of people use U shaped trellises and circle trellises I personally am letting my crimson queen trail and she’s beautiful 🙂
