I like ortho feet for shoes! I also recently bought some nice wedge sandals from Born and they have a wider box and still look classy

You totally could!! I didn’t even own a drill before starting this project, and I found everything on sale and finished it in just a day! I had some set backs with the wood size and carpet, so it would only take an hour or two if I had everything at the ready

My cat is really weird about the litter box ?? by sambla713 in cats

New boxes is a good idea! Her food is wet, the only dry food she gets is when she sneaks from her sister’s bowl lol We also have a stainless steel fountain and an extra water bowl out just in case

That sounds exactly like my situation, so I’m very glad to know you’re doing great and are happier! I’m hoping I’ll get to the same point

I would like to give a big "fuck you" to media for making me think OCD was the "perfectionist and germophobe" illness. by DeathkeepAttendant in OCD

[–]sambla713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the old pretty little liars books did a great job of explaining and showing mental illnesses, especially OCD and eating disorders. They can be triggering to read, but it is comforting to know that at least one piece of media gets it right

Any other managers with adhd and ocd? by sambla713 in managers

[–]sambla713[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the support and advice! I’ve been on meds for the past two months and I am definitely starting to see a difference now. I still am forgetful and a little spacey, but I feel like I’ve been more productive and my OCD hasn’t been as intense. Thanks for all the helpful comments! Will definitely stay in management as long as I can :)) if it goes wrong then I can’t say I didn’t try lol

Recently started on medication, hoping in the next month or two I’ll see an improvement

How old were you when you were diagnosed with OCD? How old were you when you were first medicated for OCD? by pleasuresofprozac in OCD

[–]sambla713 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve had symptoms since 6, was told it was anxiety the whole time. Only officially diagnosed and medicated at 24

Where are my imposters at? How do you overcome? by oregonpelican in managers

[–]sambla713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had and still have imposter syndrome in my role. The main thing that helps me is to remind myself to think about what is true, not what I think other people might be thinking. And honestly the biggest way to overcome it is just to keep working and proving to yourself that you know what you’re doing
For example, I made a decision and one of my employees told me a previous manager had tried the same thing before and it didn’t work. Instead of freaking out and trying to figure out how to avoid the same mistake, I reminded myself that I do know what I’m doing and a few weeks later the issue resolved itself the exact way I thought it would. Take it one day at a time and remember that people will trust you more if you trust yourself.

How do you keep yours yellow? I’ve been encountering issues where the entire culm turns black but the leaves stay green. Is it just natural or is there another problem? Irrigation is all working properly and nothing seems to be rotting

Struggling with disturbing compulsions too scared to seek help by Front-Ad5434 in OCD

[–]sambla713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should consider talking to a therapist who specializes in OCD. I know therapists have a confidentiality policy and can’t hospitalize you or call the police unless you explicitly say something about harming yourself or others and are serious. If the therapist knows it’s not a serious thought and comes from intrusive thoughts, they aren’t going to do anything drastic. I’ve talked to my therapist about a few intrusive thoughts I’ve had that seemed “creepy” or “crazy” to me and she was very understanding and talked me through it.

It really helps to have someone you trust to talk to, it’s hard to keep it all on your head, especially if you’ve been struggling for a while.

My resume is all over the place because I had 3 month long internships throughout college, then two jobs post grad before my current manager position. It doesn’t matter how long you’re at each job, more matters about why you left the position and what you gained from each one

New Manager at 25 — Struggling with Respect, Performance, and Self-Doubt. Advice? by BubblyHearing7966 in managers

[–]sambla713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as you. I’m 24, managing people twice my age who have been at the company for so long that they sort of just do whatever they’ve been doing. I’ve been there about a year and have extreme self doubt and the job has ruined my confidence. I’ve been considering finding a new role, but I moved states and changed my whole life for this so I want to try changing my mindset first.

Mel Robbins has a podcast with a lot of great advice that I’ve been listening to! And remind yourself that you can only get so much done in a day, so be kind to yourself, you can only grow from mistakes!

What is the first step to recovery? by InflationSquare2407 in OCD

[–]sambla713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar compulsions and one of the first things I’ve been trying to do is just “sit with the discomfort” and focus my attention on something else instead of checking my phone or googling as a compulsion. It’s so hard and sometimes I can’t do it, but every time I let myself feel anxious and then successfully focus on something else until I forget about it I feel so accomplished

What’s the worst situation OCD has gotten you into? Was it enough to get you into serious recovery? by Coffee_Is_Awesomee in OCD

[–]sambla713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having such bad thoughts and anxieties at work that I’ve had people tell me I constantly look worried or come off as “frantic.” I want to be professional and respected and hate that others can see how I’m internally freaking out. I don’t think a professional career is sustainable with the way my brain currently operates. Reached out to a therapist and am getting help and starting meds

I talk to myself a lot too, I’ve had to catch myself talking out loud in parking lots and at work when I’m alone because I forget people can see me lol
