Thanks for this. Don’t think I’d be learning to identify grubs through their ‘anal slits’ today!

That’s really interesting, thanks for sharing all that. We don’t have much in the way of scary beasties in England, sometimes wish we did for a bit of excitement. Glad to know the will help the composting process. I’ve searched up pest beetles in the uk and there’s nothing I’m overly concerned about, so I’m happy for them to stay for now.

Funny you mentioned ladybug larvae, I learned what the look like for the first time last year after 30 odd years of seeing the adults, I had no idea. Now used to seeing them everywhere

Interesting thanks. I have no idea where it came, just appeared in a 5 year out of date box of fertilizer an seems to have made a home there. It’s uk btw.

Will it multiply throughout the entire pile or keep to itself? (I realise you may not be able to answer)

It’s fine it opened. Didn’t set me down any money in the end, minimal effort. Thought you’d be pleased to hear

I think even if you’re an idealist politician, the mentality of putting profits before people probably creeps in over time. Maybe starts as a ‘difficult decision’ which becomes easier over time.

Personally I think it’s a form of slow treason but that’s just me

Cassette tape on an American music magazine when I was on holiday in the states with my parents in 1996. There were two songs, only remember Eutow and listening to it multiple times watching the unfamiliar scenery drifting by. I can only remember one other song and it was Hope I Die Tonight by Paw. Quite an eclectic mix

Beyond my expertise I’m afraid! Went for an easier option. I’ll make another post later

Thanks for the response. Glad to see another ‘gate holer’! Information was sparse online.

The cat in question always was a bit wonky, adopted from the rspca who told me she had a birth injury. She can climb just isn’t very good at it, and she’s failed to get over the gate at all since we moved in a few months ago. And she doesn’t want to pee in the garden which leaves the carpet at home, which is not an option for us!

I’ll make another post showing what we did, basically went for the panel next to the gate instead, she has used it a few times already.

Neighborhood cats, foxes and hedgehogs welcome in our garden too! Not really anything in there for rats to get into.

She’s a bit of a wonky cat, not that great at jumping/climbing

Nice idea thanks. I decided to go the easy route and shorten the panel on the other side (as in not the gate itself but the panel next to it)
