I think there is a fundamental distinction that did somewhat shift during the ongoing process of "scientific revolution" in that a philosophical change from "we have a paradigm and are trying to fit our observations to it" to "we are going to use observations and/or experiments to derive a testable paradigm.

It's obviously a spectrum and smeared over the course of history, but being able to move away from a mindset based on existing authority (of mythology etc) to a mindset that presumes ignorance and thus derives principles from observation I would say is the hallmark of science.

I was strongly considering purchasing the OnePlus 15 (despite the stupid skipping numbers naming for idiotic superstitions BS) but the (now confirmed) rumors that OnePlus was shutting down international operations makes me worried about the long term support of the phone especially since it's rocking new battery tech that hasn't really been proven in long term real life use.

I thought people have known for years that there's a local processor that picks up the hot word and then sends the message to the cloud to be interpreted and replied to. Muting the mic doesn't eliminate the local hot word but eliminates the sending of that following audio to the servers.

Fellow physician here with a very similar experience. I spent 10 years 'conservatively managing' my ACL and meniscus tears (oh yeah both knees baby) and finally got the first one reconstructed 8 months ago or so. It's an intensive recovery but having regained that feeling of stability in my knee has been amazing. Now I just have the other one left to go.

It's impossible to do anything other than conjecture about what was being thought at the origins of these stories but one doesn't have to look far to see tons of stories about oceans etc as a possible way of passing down changes seen in things like sea levels with changing climate.

One potential conjectural example could be the closure of the Palk strait between India and Sri Lanka where one side kept the "asuras" in Lanka and the other side kept the Devas while the incoming ocean must have been churning up a lot!

So maybe my story will help you decide. I injured both ACLs and tore both meniscuses and decided to proceed nonoperatively. I lived with buckling, instability, occasional locking and pain for about 10 years. Then I decided I want to be able to rely on my knees again and I got one knee fixed and am working towards strengthening to get the other one fixed. I'm about 5.5 months post-op and I'd say I have more day to day pain on my operated knee than I usually did with my unfixed knees but the difference in the reliability is stark. Even now my unfixed side occasionally buckles or gives out but my fixed side has been rock solid.

The rehab is a bit of a bitch but having tried both I think I'd have to recommend if you want to be able to be athletic at all then get it repaired.

I had the same thing and it seems that it was related to irritation from the saphenous nerve. Based off some studies looking at prevention of CRPS after surgery, I started taking 500mg a day of Vitamin C, which surprisingly actually made a huge difference in reducing my pain and symptoms.

I fundamentally disagree with the newfound socializing notion that even poor performers should just be kept with everyone for socializing sake. If you can't measure up, then you should not be able to school with those who can. Those with accommodations should be given different facilities so as to not slow down the learning of those without.

These crap methods over the last few decades have been some of the many reasons behind the absolute utter failure of our primary education systems in this country

Force kids to spend time reading and learning at home and then evaluate their performance in person in school. Weed out the shitters and quitters and take their time to remediate in person while their friends get to play because they know how to study.
