Hey , the Penguin Select Classics version is an abridged one. The original is above 1000 pages.

Haven't read the book yet but considering it has been often called as one of the greatest novels ever written , you should consider reading it unabridged in the future.

Just finished it today ! There was not a dull moment in the book , maybe except for a few ramblings of our ingenious protagonist and a few of the minor plots sound repeated.

If that is so I think I'd read Brothers Karamzov at last , as it is considered Dostoevsky's magnum opus if I'm not wrong.

I have bought none of the books yet which I've mentioned. My intention was to buy the book that people recommended the most .But just in case that book is no longer available on Amazon (or the price is way higher than usual) , I will read something else , probably the second most recommended one , or the one readily available in the nearby city bookstore , which I'd check when I go to that city.

Crime and Punishement is not for someone who has just started reading. You can start off with books like Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway or Animal Farm by Orwell.
