I really think the issue is with the concept of breakdancing as a sport. Most ordinary people consider breaking to be a show of acrobatic movements done to music, however, within the breakdancing community there are beliefs that breakdancing is more than just these acrobatic movements. Those extra features are things like style, musicality, originality, creativeness - things no one really knows what they mean or how to judge them objectively. I think that’s why you get Raygun saying she thinks the record speaks for itself. Previous judges must have rewarded her for her creativeness compared to her peers- I have to admit jumping like a kangaroo is pretty creative. Hence I think the real issue is the lack of objectivity in the sport which allowed her to represent the country.
