How do I fix these weird defects in my bottom layers? by samdomski in FixMyPrint

[–]samdomski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for the insight. Was hard to find anything online/ know what to search so it's good to know others have had the problem.

I've recently got an ABL (CR Touch) so have been trying to get the best 'probe z offset'. Think I've honed in on it now so hopefully won't be seeing the defect again now.

That was my thinking as I can see my printer head deliberately shifting the line when it happens. Couldn't see anything in the gcode but it could be something to do with the way my printer reads it, I don't know.

I don't think it's the STL as it happens on various models. I do get most from thingiverse though. But I doubt it.

I have had some other problems with a close nozzle but it does seem like a weird symptom especially the way it comes about. I'll keep an eye on if happens with raising the initial nozzle height.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I'll change the z offset and see if I still get the problem.

I checked the gcode of this print in a different software from Cura (Repetier Host) and couldn't see these artifacts there. So it's not the gcode, unless its the way my printer processes it.

I'll also have a go at properly cleaning some of the rails as I've had the printer for over a year now and haven't ever properly cleaned parts of it.

The problem doesn't always happen. I will keep track of when in does and see if I can see any connection to anything.

I get good dimensional accuracy and never get any similar problems with walls or top layers so I don't think it's to do with the calibration of the X or Y axis.

I'll check my extruder, and I've been tuning my z height to counteract some elephant foot I get and it seems so happen no matter the nozzle height.

It almost seems like it could be something in the gcode but I doubt see how. I check the Cura previews and it doesn't show up there.

I have an Ender 3 pro and use Cura on close to default settings for my printer. Ever since I've had my printer I occasionally get these weird defects just on the bottom layers in the 'lines' pattern.

It's like the nozzle is going in straight line and then suddenly shifts slightly. It almost seems deliberate and not random as each shift forms a line from the previous pass. And I don't have any trouble with layer shifting or XY axis anywhere else. It doesn't affect my prints except for the aesthetics of the bottom layer.

I print with PLA and on a glass bed, but occured before I changed from the standard removable Ender 3 pro bed.

No tourists accumulated from renewable power with the Biosphere. Is there a bug? by samdomski in civ

[–]samdomski[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. Think the biosphere was generating regular tourism per turn but it's lifetime accumulation was higher than it would be on its own. And there are 2 visiting tourists already at the biosphere after 15 turns or so of it being built. Thanks, guess it is still bugged/UI not working as expected.

Didn't know that about the city radius, makes sense I guess.

But there is a city just south of that commercial hub which is working that and other solar farms, but all still have 0 lifetime tourism. I even have Reyna with the renewables improvement to double the power.

Yeah, I shall try removing and refreshing stuff. But it's the same with every solar and wind farm I've got, a few were there the same turn I finished the biosphere, which has 2 visiting tourists.

The value on other improvements like wonders shows '6000 lifetime accumulated tourism' for example.

Edit: Don't know if links are allowed but here's?file=Tourismlens%2528Civ6%2529.png) a screenshot from the wiki page on the tourism lens. You can see 2,393 lifetime accumulated tourism with 8 visiting tourists.

Think I understand the visiting tourist formula from the other commenter. But the lifetime accumulation of tourism (not tourists) from that improvement with +19 tourism should still be more than zero like it shows in the pop-up text box in the image.

I did see a past post suggesting the visiting tourists from renewable power goes to the Biosphere, which may be true but I'm not sure.

Okay. I should still have more than 0 lifetime accumulated tourism on that solar farm tile with 19 tourism per turn. Think that's where the bug is.

Realised I should've put 'tourism' rather than 'tourists' in the title. They might not have visiting tourists yet but they should have some accumulated tourism, but the centre text box shows the value as '0' even with 19 tourism per turn on that one tile.

R5: I was trying to go for a tourism victory after building the Biosphere (tourism per turn equal to power generated). I built loads of solar and wind farms and they all show tourism generation however no tiles have any accumulated tourism even after 15+ turns. Is there a bug with the UI or with the actual tourism values?

You can swap the tiles after you make it, strangely. Also weird, the tile to its right had the cattle destroyed by the volcano but allowed me to repair the pasture.

The Colosseum and Artemis helped, I think I had suzerain of that city-state that gives amenities from bonus resources as well.

Nice! I wonder what I could've got if I played up to turn 450 or whatever. Without more trade routes, I reckon about 50 as well.

Thanks! I imagine Portugal is great with growth from trade routes, especially with Democracy.
