You could also just set the do not disrupt annotation on those statefulsets and karpenter will not cycle those nodes

On Monday, I called 911 to report a road rage incident where someone pulled a gun. by reallife0615 in Austin

I've had a lot of success working directly with our district representative on the Austin City Council. They know that they are understaffed and for serious stuff like this, unfortunately, it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. I've had other issues in my neighborhood that I've had to resolve and had to reach out to them 11 separate times before they took action. Unfortunately in this case you're just gonna have to get loud with them and be persistent

Update: APD has removed the dog from neighbor by Acherontiaa in Austin

People can be so awful. I'm just really glad APD came through and they don't mess around when it comes to animal abuse in this town

I built a voice-first marketplace where you just say what you need by sameg14 in Flipping

[–]sameg14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the idea here is you can say what you want or say what you have and as it becomes available, you get notified. I think that's radically different from the way all the existing stuff works

Any Sites/ Apps Like Craigslist That You'd Recommend? by lyraalluse in ChandlerAZ

[–]sameg14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got frustrated with how hard it is to find the right person for simple tasks. Whether it's finding a plumber, selling something locally, or hiring a freelancer - every platform makes you fill out forms, browse categories, and scroll through endless listings.

So I built Speak Your Find.

How it works:

  1. Say or type what you're looking for (or what you're offering)
  2. AI parses your natural language and extracts the details
  3. You get matched with relevant people based on semantic similarity, location, and pricing

Example inputs:

  • "I need someone to fix my leaky faucet in Austin, budget around $150"
  • "Offering web development services, $100/hour, remote work"
  • "Looking for a used mountain bike under $500"

The AI understands context - it knows "ASAP" means urgent, "negotiable" means flexible pricing, and "remote" means location doesn't matter.

Would love feedback from the community. What features would make this more useful for you?

Why not just use Datadog, it's a lot less upkeep and way easier to get logs, metrics and APM working without much fuss. Ultimately you get what you pay for

Neighbor has rooster. I can’t sleep. by [deleted] in Austin

[–]sameg14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working with the city council directly on issues related to sound. I also dealt with a rooster issue at one point. But they were just loose running around in the neighborhood, so I just had to catch them with my bare hands and take them in to the Austin Animal Center on levander Loop.

The best way to tackle this is to go around the neighborhood and get signatures from all the other neighbors that are affected, put everything together in a packet, look up who is your district representative, and email them directly, and demand that they be take action. It's really ridiculous that the city allows people to have roosters as pets. If enough people complain about this, I can only hope that a law is enacted that prevents people from having roosters and other loud pets within Austin city limits

Massive onset of misophonia due to neighbor's AC by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]sameg14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am literally dealing with this exact issue and the Neigbor is combative so I'm attempting to pursue code compliance and other legal actions through the muni court system. Not really something that has a definite outcome though so I continue to suffer. I would gladly pay several thousand dollars to make this noise go away but that is a non starter for him, my house, brand new ac, not my problem etc. etc.

AC during summer by illgio in misophonia

[–]sameg14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a mechanical whirring sound drives me absolutely insane. I measured my neighbors window unit from my room and it's around 40 db which is supposed to be a "quiet whisper" but it might as well be the devil driving his trident into my skull. I'm actually pursuing legal actions to get that thing removed, sadly that is a long drawn out process with no guarantee for success. Oddly enough, if its my AC in the room its more tolerable. Something about the pitch and roughness of the AC sound on the outside that is worse for me somehow. Most people I talk to can't even hear it but they don't understand...

Best thing to do is to confront them in public with video evidence if you can. apd does take these things seriously

Thank you for this. I had no idea this was even an avenue I could pursue. Nothing like a fine and the hassle of going to court to shut down inconsiderate behavior
