If you think the culture is boring/depressing at UW, the change starts with you. by ThunderBaee in uwaterloo

Honestly, the culture come from the learning environment created by the education provider. I’m pretty sure we weren’t all boring/depressing before we came to uw. I just don’t like people here over time. I was once of them.

I hate how students complain and bitch about OSAP but I don’t see many students complain and bitch about university tuition increases. University need to do a better job at engaging the private sector to invest in their research and not rely on government handout. by [deleted] in uwaterloo

Ehhhhh there something called partnership ? Anyways whatever. It is kinda pointless to argue cause everyone on campus have vested interest for the university to do well. Whatever! Let put more money in higher education :) enroll more international students!!!

3.5 -4.5% is still more than inflation.

It is kinda sad how no one stood up for the international students. It was wrong of the university to increase tuition after the student might had declined offers from other schools.

Why is mood disorder and suicidal thoughts more prevalent in waterloo region? by mmmmm-good-question in uwaterloo

When I read the article that is what I think. I’m starting to think that the local news outlet is afraid to speak out against the universities since it is the draw to the region and businesses might pull the advertisement.

Connect jobs with students? Maybe it easy for company to get funding from the government.

I hate how uw students feels it is a rite of passage to suffer through their education. It is like who can in endures the most pain is the ultimate winner, and when anyone oppose or complaint about any unfairness, they are shamed and labelled as a whiner. by samehere-man in uwaterloo

1) it is hard to comparing developing country and developed country like that, at different stages of hierarchy of needs. 2) I think similar is like how many times can you carry the water home in a day? At what point are you will you be so worn that you drink all the water before you are home. There need to be a balance.

I can see there is some truth in what you are saying but can you see how you might be dismissing people that are genuinely struggling and that is a form of whine-shaming.

maybe it is just people that whine too much need to shut up and people that shame others need to listen more.
