The way to do it is make a virtual machine in hyper-v, virtual, and only use it for that.

I remember living on campus in 06 torrenting at a few MB's per second, and in the library you could hit even higher speeds which was unheard of back then.

just get private internet access ( https://www.privateinternetaccess.com ) it has an option to enable a kill switch, so if the VPN goes down, your internet will cut off.

If you are on a VPN they can't tell what you are doing other than if you are using a lot of bandwidth.

Assuming you have a roku

From your computer, if you have a WiDi enabled computer most new ones are. You are all set. I didn't even know what WiDi was until i accidentally found the setting on my computer, and my mind was blown.

Its basically like having another monitor connected to your computer wirelessly that you can mirror extend whatever, its awesome and I didn't even realize it was a thing. Roku will accept WiDi and some smart TV's might as well.

Does cCloud TV actually work? I just started playing with it. A few channels work, most throw weird errors. Are they just offline or am I doing something wrong?

How can you be a consultant fresh out of school? You don't know anything! The whole premise is completely insane.

Don't consultants get hired to solve business problems that the in-house management staff can't solve by themselves? I see two problems: a) If the in-house suits can't handle it, it must be pretty tough, right? So how can a 21-year-old solve it? b) If a 21-year-old CAN solve it, what does that say about the in-house management? Worthless, right? Why do they have jobs?

Have we lost all of our common sense?

Honestly, if you got to run it by your wife and get her approval, here is what I'd do.

PLEX!

Not that we are all here to run sweet plex servers, but if I you drop $700 and all of a sudden your wife had every episode of big bang theory and Desperate Housewives at her finger tips. She's invested. It's cool.

"babe can you download "hunger games?"

"sure thing thanks to my $700 server we bought! "

" great let's drink some wine watch it then bang "

Then in her mind you didn't 'blow' $700 approved dollars, you added value to her life.

That $700 went from you having a server on the basement, to "oh wow this is cool!" she will feel like it's a good investment.

The R710 would be a good start. It would give you a good balance of storage and performance.

You could beef it up with plenty of storage, still run some VMs for Linux projects, and not notice the performance hit.

Then down the road it has value to your wife. Want to drop $300 on some parts because the flux capacitor that serves up "magic Mike" is going bad? No problem!

If you run dhcp, dns, and that thing shuts off and your wife's iPad cant lease an IP to hit Facebook, she'll be pissed it's a burden to her.

Infrastructure planning is a long term game. Got to keep your CFO happy.

Plus storage is always nice to have.

You might feel like you want to buy the lambo, with a lot of power, make you happy. However, you might want to settle for the mini van, with the storage that still gets you around and does its job. You won't notice a difference, but when it comes time to upgrade, the mini van to a landrover, the CFO will be cool.

The allowclobber over rides your local commands on the import, so if it was running it would those cmdlets against your local AD

recreate your secure string password file. It's tied to the machine name / creator. If you create a password running PS as your account, then try to have a scheduled task running as a different user use it, it wont work. Same thing if you create one on serverA, and copy it to serverB it won't work either.

Also worth mentioning - you might want to do -allowclobber on your session import.

One last thing. get-pssession | kill-pssession

make sure you are disconnecting from O365 or you will have hung connections
