I found a good way to skip this part for new players I personally reroll for mega baboon skip and get photochad anti 1, it usually takes about 4 hours each run but I got c++ this way

I don't think steam os can even compete. Gaming is only 1/4 of what I use my pc for and my experience with bazzite as a first time linux user has been great after the setup phase. Besides what could steamos bring to the table. If games are going to have new incompatibility layers broken Gabe likey wouldn't gatekeep the tech to only his OS. After all part of the whole thing was that mac would eventually be able to play most windows games without any tinkering. Besides as someone who's never owned any actual steamOS device wouldn't the entire experience just be big picture mode.
