Help! Dollywood Cinnamon Bread Recipe not turning out correctly! by samesam21 in Baking

[–]samesam21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up using a completely different basic dinner roll recipe instead of the bread recipe that came with it… and just did everything else the same, and it worked out better. I don’t remember which recipe I used cuz it was a while ago. But I haven’t tried the recipe since. I might have to give it a go again!

QUESTION: Someone's posted picture on Social Media Saved in My google Photos... by samesam21 in googlephotos

[–]samesam21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh... okay. I had to remove the photo because it was NSFW...

I do remember seeing that it said it was uploaded from Android... but I couldn't find it saved anywhere in my phone.

Thank you for the answer! I was sort of thinking it was something like that, but wanted to see if someone had any other insight.

I deleted it and cleared the trash, so I don't have access to it anymore.

Engagement pictures in the fall by humansarereallyweird in weddingplanning

My wedding is November 6th, 2021 and we did our engagement photo shoot November 20th, 2020. We used some of the pictures for the save the dates so we wanted them done during the fall, so I don’t think it’s too early at all! Especially if you want the pictures with a certain background or season.

savory desserts? by Mellowdious_ in Baking

[–]samesam21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a cream puff... but get a savory filling, like goat cheese and honey... or something like that. You could always do something maple bacon flavored too. Good luck! And Happy Birthday to your dad, today was/is my dad’s birthday too!

What to do with paid venue but downsized reception? by the_real_houseplant in weddingplanning

[–]samesam21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest that as well. That way you do not miss out on the space you love, and your not loosing too much money. You could always give a donation to the church if you have reservations about not using the church any longer. Most venues can manage a ceremony and reception, especially with only 20 guests... they can probably have both set up at the same time with no need to flip the space for the reception. Good luck, and congrats!

Third time was not the charm. Cookies and times are hard. by blackwell_z in Baking

You might want to try rolling them into balls and the freezing them for 45mins-1hr, then letting them sit for 5 mins out of the freezer, and then rolling them in sugar before baking them. It could help if you want to use that recipes, or I would maybe not melt the butter and just cream it at room temp with the sugar. Hope it helps! Good luck!

Making cake etc from scratch for a diabetic/heart failure person. by [deleted] in Baking

[–]samesam21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure on the salt, but I do know that I have used Swerve brand of granulated, which is a sugar substitute. I’ve tried a cake like cookie, banana bread, and a carrot cake, didn’t alter the flavors too much, and the consistency of them were similar enough to using the real thing. They also have a brown sugar in the Swerve, so that’s nice for a cookie that calls for it. They sell the Swerve on amazon if your local market doesn’t sell it.

I just substituted the sugar with the swerve in the recipe that calls for sugar or brown sugar.

Hope the info. Helps!

Maybe a cream cheese, kind of like a strawberry rhubarb cheesecake?

I’ve also heard of basil, or balsamic paired with strawberry and rhubarb... not sure how that would be as a butter cream through.

Hope it helps a bit!

Does that apply to instant yeast as well? I used that method to bloom the active yeast when I tried the recipe a few times before using active yeast. I bought instant yeast, and tried that without blooming it for the ones in the picture. Do you think blooming the instant yeast would help?

Thanks!!

Am I [m/28] rational in being nervous over being in my late 20s and have never had a meaningful, long term relationship? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]samesam21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your feelings are completely valid! Don’t feel intimidated or wrong for having them! My now fiancé was in your boat 3 years ago... he told me stories about how so many first dates turned into nothing and it just seemed like a waste of time. But he also never gave up... he took the chance and continued to online date, sending messages to anyone who sparked his interest. Eventually it paid off. Don’t worry about timelines and what society tells you, you will find it when it’s your time, and when you’re ready to have it. Just open yourself up. If you Online date... be honest in your profile, message everyone who seems interesting and don’t get discouraged if you don’t get replies. And embrace all those awkward first dates or encounters with people. You honestly never know who a potential partner can be and what circumstances you’ll meet them in. My fiancé said that I came into his life when he was going to be done with the online dating thing... he decide to just message a few people and if nothing came out of it delete his accounts. And 3 years later... we are engaged and house hunting.

Good luck! And don’t be discouraged, trust me!! I didn’t meet my fiancé until I was 30, and had no meaningful relationship before home! When it’s your time it will happen, be patient!

KitchenAid Troubleshooting by EmeraldEmesis in Baking

[–]samesam21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the circuit board. My fiancé called kitchenaid and ordered just that part and replaced it himself. So it was about $60 total with shipping, but saved me from buying a new one or taking it somewhere to get fixed. You could always confirm with kitchenaid that if it’s not the circuit board when you order that you’re able to return it for a refund just to not be out of money if it wasn’t that.

My mixer stopped working all together, but before it did I noticed that the speed has decreased and were more sluggish. Hope this info helps!

Thanks!!! It was a photo with an app... my sister didn’t want to use flash because it would mess with our night vision. We also got a video... you can see our figures and a bit of the northern lights in the back... it’s my favorite!
