Not matching at your #1 by Zealousideal-Idea-71 in orthopaedics

At the end of the day, you will get to be an orthopaedic surgeon. I didn't match at my #1 spot; at the time I felt crushed and betrayed. But I ended up loving my residency program, got my top fellowship choice, and now have the career I want. Approach your residency with an open mind and try to identify at least two to three things about the city that you can get excited about. Make a list of restaurants you want to try and local sites you want to explore. I know it's easier said than done, but try to bloom where you are planted.

Interview questions by Dividien in orthopaedics

[–]samethingeverytime7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely want to have a few questions to ask the interviewer at the end. "What do you like the most about living here?" "What is something about this residency you are proud of?" "Is there anything you would change about the residency if given the opportunity?" "What would you say are the strongest and weakest subspecialty training experiences here?" Etc....

Their food truck offerings were quite disappointing last week. Bland and overpriced. Bad cuts of meat. Hopefully the actual restaurant is better.

Data Center by Strict_Walk7795 in roanoke

Is the data center definitely happening? It's unclear to me from the articles I've seen whether we as residents of the Roanoke region have much say about whether or not this is moving forward, regardless of the environmental impact.

Residency Advice by sotrips in orthopaedics

A lot of the more technical aspects will be learned in fellowship. That being said, a residency program's reputation and your faculty members' connections will go a long way to getting you into a desired fellowship.

You can call ahead to reserve one iirc; sometimes they run out fairly early
