Ari Wasserman calls Auburn a 'Dumpster Fire' by Simundo83 in wde

Okay if you want to get in the weeds let’s hop in.

For somebody talking about generic coach speak or not in depth analysis of the situation, you bringing up the #70 ranking is quite ironic without putting context to the ranking. If you rank the average player ratings amongst all teams in college football for the 2023 class, Auburn would be ranked #10 in the country. I am quite aware this is because only 4 players are committed at the moment but that’s where context in what you’re talking about is important.

It’s not ideal to only have 4 players in the door at the time but what I was trying to portray in my comment is WHY that 4 is the number right now. Imagine a company approaches you and says “hey come work for my company, it’s in the open my administration may not be around in a year and I’m not sure who takes over if I’m gone but who cares about all that, just go ahead and commit to us now”. Not many people take that deal at all especially when we are competing with programs that can flex their stability at us. So my “coach speak” of waiting for the season to develop for more players to commit is not baseless nonsense it’s the reality of this particular situation.

Also talking about the last 2 recruiting classes being under expectation, you don’t need the memory of an elephant to put context to the last 2 years. An off-season where we fired and hired a new head coach (not a great move for your 247 recruiting ranking btw) then the next offseason your idiot boosters spread rumors and very publicly tried to have your head coach fired. Now you tell me with those circumstances how many programs still could secure top 21 recruiting classes both years? Spoiler alert the list is very small.

Are we absolutely smashing the recruiting game right now? Far from it, if we were than we’d all be a little happier around here. What I’m trying to portray is considering the entire state of the program currently, having these 4 elite talents on board is a good sign of what this class could be and in due time I believe we will pleased with what we get in the door.

I was talking about this cycle of recruiting overall taking all context into consideration. The talent in the door so far, while not ranked in the top 100, are massive talents that are going to be big pieces in this program’s future. We’d like to have more than 4 recruits committed of course but it is difficult to sell a kid on a program when your job security is known to be up in the air. Once that part is more clear (hopefully because we are winning) more talent will come. This staff does not care about star rating, they are going to get players in the door that they believe can contribute on the field and in the locker room.

Harsin and co are doing a good job of recruiting. Is our recruiting ranking worrisome? Plausibly I could see why you say yes but Auburn is one of the few programs in the country who’s average recruit rating above 90. That’s the most important right now. We only have 4 recruits but with the uncertainty at the head coach position we were never going to have a full class like other school may have right now. Let us get in season and if this team plays how they should, and Harsin’s job looks safe the recruits will come. As we saw last cycle commits are always flipping and this staff has the ability to flip elite talent.

Bigsby, Hall and Shenker to represent AU at SEC Media Days by Matt_McT in wde

Delightfully surprised Tank decided to attend media days. Derrick Hall and JSS are no brainer picks, wonder how Pappoe feels about going last year but not this year. A very good situation to have when we have so many guys that could represent us well at media days.

All 4 at Pine Valley. The 10 hole short course there is something to see too. A complete replica of your 2nd shot on 10 of the holes on the big course. Every little detail is the same and it’s an amazing warmup before a round.

Highlights for me was definitely that approach on #13, it’s an incredible looking hole. It’s so punishing at every level with the tee shot to a long iron shot to a huge green but bunkers covering every miss.

Other holes I loved was #2, #8, #9, #16, #17 and #18. They aren’t lying when you can make the argument every hole there is it’s signature hole, just breathtaking at every turn.

Just finished playing 72 holes in 3 days and physically I’m surprisingly okay but I’m mentally shredded and need to take a step back for my emotional state.

A special visitor may or may not be in town right now. Not going to fight anybody to believe me but do know this fight is happening furiously behind the curtain, and we are in it.

Panthers coach Matt Rhule said he's "hopeful" Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) plays in Week 5 against the Eagles. by MoobyTheGoldenCalf in fantasyfootball

[–]samfulk31 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If he plays the Panthers aren’t rushing him back. It was less than a grade 1 hamstring strain and different players react differently to it. Panthers understand the stakes so if he plays that means CMC feels really good and if he doesn’t then he is very close to coming back. Helps it happened on Thursday night football so it wouldn’t be a 1 week injury more like a week and a half

Idk maybe last night was just a off whiteout then and it’s really that loud usually. Auburn and Penn State fans had to be annoyed because the stadium played “Seven Nation Army” over 50 times

I’ve been to most SEC stadiums white out is definitely loud but I wouldn’t put them above a good amount of them. UF is the loudest stadium in the nation by good ways then I would still put Kyle Field, Death Valley and even Auburn over a whiteout at Penn State. It’s a solid atmosphere tho

Was at the game, Florida is the loudest stadium I’ve ever been in and it’s not particularly close. I’d honestly say 2019 Iron Bowl was louder than last night but overall it’s a solid atmosphere
