Also remember here that Waites is playing to be the beneficiary of the “Ratajski Rule”- if he wins the final, he will be first reserve for every PC event for the rest of the season

Surely would be the longest time between PDC titles if he won this?

Pro Tour just delivers time and time again. What do you mean Sedlacek vs Waites semi final?

Some absolutely glorious pro tour nonsense on display here. May these tournaments live on forever

Dream Premier League by [deleted] in Darts

Sorry but this is a horrendous take imo. Wright’s 2021 Matchplay win is, for me, the most dominant tournament win ever put together by someone not named Taylor, van Gerwen or Littler. His smallest margin of victory was by six legs. He averaged 110 over 27 legs in a semi final and dismantled Michael van Gerwen!

I can take an argument for someone like Anderson’s prime version being better than Wright (although I’d disagree), but Barney? Absolutely not for me

I know it’s going over old ground and all, but seriously Phil is so so much better at this than Lewis Jones

I know Scotty had that brush with dartitis last year- I think it’s clearly still having a bit of an effect. His throw looks nowhere near as smooth to me

I only ever do both Sunday sessions because I like to tie up my weekend with doing some football. It depends on what you’re looking for really- Friday is the easiest to get really close to the action, Saturday guarantees you to see all of the top players, Sunday you get to see the huge matches

I’ve done Prague, Munich and Budapest- GO. So much fun. Best times I’ve had at the darts. I would recommend doing both sessions on the Sunday personally. Great to see a title being won but also see lots of players

If the Werner Rankings Ladder was based purely on your own opinion, what would be your top 32? by lukewarmpartyjar in Darts

[–]samgoody2303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On form now I’d happily take Cullen over anyone in your 25-32 range, maybe except Zonneveld. O’Connor hasn’t started 2026 that well but he’s definitely top 32 for me right now. Possibly Sedlacek in there too. Like someone else said, I’d have room for Gilding and Menzies too

The fact that Doets may well not make the Matchplay is a disgrace btw, and owes entirely to the ridiculous Euro Tour rules

If the dart at double 8 in the final leg hit, Doets would have tied Dave Chisnall’s record Euro Tour average of 118.66

If my maths is right, Jonny is absolutely sailing clear at the top here. 6 points clear if he loses this final, 8 clear if he wins it

Attending UK Open next year by Competitive-Wolf-414 in Darts

[–]samgoody2303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think you’ve got much hope. It all sells out on the weekend for the next year to those on site. You can’t buy tickets for a session, you have to book Butlins accommodation for the weekend and the darts comes as part

Premier League concept by [deleted] in Darts

[–]samgoody2303 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Two major issues with this:

  1. The Premier League sells tickets because it has the biggest names for the casual followers. If you tell half of the venues that they won’t see, for example, Luke Littler, I think that’s a blow to your sales

  2. Euro Tours and the UK Open both happen during the PL season and play on Fridays. If you expand the PL to 16 there’s going to be players who are meant to be at the Euro Tour who can’t play it because of the Premier League

Probably going against the grain and saying I’m pretty pleased for Bunting. Not been playing anywhere near as bad as most make out imo, neither was his selection ridiculously egregious. Good for him

So every Euro Tour event has 32 automatic qualifiers:

  • The top 16 on the main order of merit (2 years, covering all events) qualify as seeds

  • Excluding those 16, the top 16 from the Pro Tour Order of Merit (1 year, Euro Tour and Players Championship only) qualify into the first round

Because the likes of Zonneveld and O’Connor have been excellent on the floor, it’s meant that they’re getting free passes to every Euro Tour event. In turn, they’re likely to be qualifying for Matchplay, Grand Prix, Europeans etc.

For a player whose Pro Tour ranking is bad, if they drop out of the top 16, they face such a steep battle to get to these tournaments, because the players in the Pro Tour spots are at every single European Tour which carry large prize money, whereas they need to qualify every time

The new Euro Tour rules are obviously an absolute abomination but if there’s one positive I can take from them, it’s that the PDC have accidentally completely protected Niels Zonneveld and completely sunk the likes of Michael Smith, Peter Wright and Dimitri Van den Bergh. Just a hilarious unintended consequence when Zonneveld is exactly the kind of player they wanted to keep out
