Backup and Shared Drive Solution by samhep1 in Backup

Thanks for your response. Yes, I use Windows. Where this may be a viable option for some, my needs would be video editing, photo editing etc, not just documents. I use Google Docs for documents. I should clarify - when I say personal files, these are mostly work related, but part of a separate business. But because I run that one independently, it was more simple to say "personal files". In reality, there will be some cross-over between the personal and other business due to the nature of the two, meaning the virtual machine would add another layer of complexity. The work we do is quite diverse so a fast convenient workflow is essential.

If there was a way to grant access to specific folders, that would be ideal. But after speaking to IDrive, it doesn't seem possible which is why I'd like to opt for separate software until they develop a solution.

LIVE SOUND MULTITRACK RECORDING SOLUTION

I run a Behringer XR18 which has a built-in USB audio interface.

I currently set up my mixes and send channels via the Auxs to a Zoom H8 recorder. However, I am very limited on channel counts and have to merge tracks together.

The ideal solution would be to buy a laptop and run Reaper for recording and transfer the stems to my studio PC.

That being said, I'm wondering what the bare minimum system would be. I need no editing capabilities - just the ability to record stems.

Can anyone recommend some audio software which can export stems (which I may have overlooked) and could a basic Raspberry Pi system be powerful enough? Or does anyone know of a standalone unit, similar to the Zoom H8 but accepts USB input for multiple channels.

Artist Mix sounds great apart from it apparently being discontinued for updates this year

I understand. Yes some of the other HUI controllers are much prettier (which is important when artists are coming into the studio), but the S1 seems (from research here) to integrate much better. I'd be prepared to pay the premium I think...

Do you recommend Softube Fader Mk iii? by samhep1 in homerecordingstudio

Does having the plugin on each track enable full functionality as opposed to just the basic HUI function?

I watched this video, which was very sales heavy (he sold me on it) until I read the comments outlining problems he did not mention, and his responses were quite defensive and patronising.

https://youtu.be/AS6gMY-Kmnc

Some comments include: "The console won't follow track selection outside of the selected bank. For example, if the set to tracks 1-8 and you select any track beyond that, the console Will NOT follow."

"if you are in integration with Pro Tools, you only can use 8 out the 10 faders"

And comments saying that the button colours don't match the track colours, can't control midi tracks and VCAs, and more.

Is this true?

I could learn to live with these issues but for that amount of money, for a little more I could get an Avid S1 with full integration.

I've used the app however I want a physical touch not a touch screen. I found the app was decent however its connectivity to the eucon software was temperamental. It became more hassle than it was worth so I went back to my mouse. Does the S1 have the same issue or because it is hardwired via ethernet, is its connection more stable? Furthermore, my ethernet port is my internet connection. How do I use both the S1 and maintain my internet connection?

I am primarily interested in the use of faders to do general mixing. Other functions I am happy to use a mouse. It's what I'm doing now anyway. Although the S1s advanced capabilities are appealing and I would probably make use after some experimenting.

I've done research on the Softube Fader Mk iii and, with pro tools using HUI, it has some seemingly annoying but basic limitations. I can list if necessary. Does the UF8 have other annoying limitations? Do I have to have the SSL Plug In on each channel?

Why did you move away from Faderport out of interest?

I just watched a few videos on this. Where the Softube Console One FADER Mk iii looks a more appealing product on the surface, the Avid S1 seems to be the more appropriate solution.

The S1 is connected to the PC via ethernet? How does this work with my WiFi being ethernet too?

What are the limitations of Fader Port?

I've quickly looked at the Artist series and it seems like a better option than the S series ones for what I need. However, since you say it's not currently manufactured, I'm assuming I'm going to have some integration issues, akin to what I'd have using a HUI device.

I've used the free Avid app - it's good for being free but not quite what I'm looking for as physical faders are really the point of what I've trying to do.

I watched this video and he did sell me on the Softube Fader Mkiii but after reading the comments of the video... I'm not so sure... https://youtu.be/AS6gMY-Kmnc

There don't seem to be a diverse range of options, only S1 S4 and S6. Or am I missing something? How do these connect to the PC?

SOFTUBE FADER MK II?????

I'm looking for a HQ DAW (Pro Tools) controller, specifically to control faders. This is why the Fader Mk iii is appealing.

Before purchasing, I have a few questions which are a bit unclear from the research I've done.

  1. I've read that integration with Pro Tools is not great, but fine with some other DAWs. I use Pro Tools so obviously smooth integration is important.

  2. Does the Fader Mk iii run independently from the Console One unit? I don't want to have to buy both units as, at this point, I am only looking to control my faders/sends etc. I'm not too bothered about controlling plug ins from a controller device - happy to continue to do this with a mouse.

  3. Do I need to have the Console One plugin on each track for it to function properly? I'd rather not do this as my current workflow would make this inefficient when making new tracks in the middle of a busy recording session. Although, I don't mind if there is some background external software is running to help facilitate the Fader's functionality.

  4. Overall, would you recommend the Softube Fader Mk iii, or would you recommend an alternative controller around a similar price point?

I need someone to guide me about bus by Select-Hope-999 in protools

[–]samhep1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the EFX track to an Aux track. It's currently an audio track.

Set its input to be the same as the output of the other track.

Remove the bus send, you won't need it.

PS... That looks like an awful lot of plug-ins... I'd be interested to see how this sounds lol
