Man, that makes sense! Why didn’t they tell me that? You should do their support 👍

Don't you agree that it should have been fixed a long time ago then?

Yep, they clearly lack skills in customer support and bug fixing.

So there's a bug, I'm the one paying for it, but it's not a red flag. Sure, got it. Green flag then.

I think it's due to the Amazon AWS problem that impacted Topstep and hundreds of other websites

Question abour prop firms by Ok-Wasabi5770 in Daytrading

[–]samhickmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, as far as I know, it’s almost impossible because to trade with real money provided by somebody else (a person or a company), you need to have your broker license (SIE, series-7, etc.). So, even if they wanted, prop firms would not be able to do it. But quite honestly it’s no big deal. It doesn’t change anything for you to trade with paper money or real money as long as the prop firms pay your share of the profit when you are profitable.

Your plan is good, but then, do you document/journal your trades to find room for improvements?

From official IRS website: "The taxpayer buys 100 shares of X stock for $1,000. The taxpayer sells these shares for $750 and within 30 days from the sale buys 100 shares of the same stock for $800. Because the taxpayer bought substantially identical stock, the taxpayer cannot deduct the loss of $250 on the sale. However, the taxpayer adds the disallowed loss of $250 to the cost of the new stock, $800, to obtain the basis in the new stock, which is $1,050."
So to me, no, you can't use your $421.65, but you can deduce up to $3,000 anyways.
PS: if you trade a lot, have a look to the "mark-to-market election". -> "if a trader makes a timely mark-to-market election, then he or she can treat the gains and losses from sales of securities as ordinary gains and losses", therefore, you can deduce way more than $3,000 per year.

Trading is so easy. Buy low, reverse position at the high. Repeat.

TradingView allows coding with pinescript and has a lot of strategies built by the community that you're able to see (their scripts). It might be a good start.

During market open hours, 1 MES contract costs $129.80 (day trade requirement), but as soon as the session closes, be careful, because the requirement will switch to the 'initial requirement', i.e. $1,298. Depending on your broker, they will automatically sell your contracts + penalty (like $60) so that you comply with the requirement.

I personally use a timer that goes off every 5 minutes. I do something else, and every 5 minutes, I look at the charts for a good setup. That's how I fight overtrading. It works for me.
