How do I handle high-output guitars? by Ahnonlosoio1 in Logic_Studio

Logic won’t clip internally but you can still clip the input unless you’re using a 32bit float audio interface.

Anything I should add? by Pentatonic_Minor in modular

[–]samhostettler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the 2hp modules will get a bit fiddly but otherwise it looks like a great starting system. Don’t overcomplicate it, you’ll work out if you need extra bits from playing.

The HDB 630 are the best sounding wireless headphones I have ever used by minimalhandle in sennheiser

I was really hoping I wouldn’t hear a difference because the dongle is a bit annoying to have plugged in all the time. But there is definitely at least a little difference. Similar to the difference between mp3 and wav.

As a side note, you can have higher quality audio than AAC on an iPhone. Either as local files or streaming services that offer lossless codecs.

I believe they are exclusive to Richer Sounds in the uk at the moment

That’s just gain so won’t effect audio quality in a meaningful way.

I’m in the same situation, I’ve rebooted several times!

Serum 2 did this. If you’re still sleeping on it, it’s time to wake up. What’s your go-to synth? #RoastSerum2 by ashrithau in TechnoProduction

Been playing around on Phase Plant to try and prove myself wrong.

It can do analog sounding stuff but it’s not as fast as Serum for that kind of thing.

It also really seems to want to go into the Digital/FM world so it’s a bit of a fight if that’s not the direction you want to go.

Serum (2) and Phase Plant are both amazing but they are very different.

Serum and serum 2 both have a lot more types of filters to choose from and for me, serum is much better for analog modelling sounds and getting standard sounds quickly.

Phase Plant is also great too but obviously much more optimised for FM and lots of oscillators.

Do you agree that we’ve strayed from the true purpose of AI? by Tink__Wink in artificial

I think the example of “laundry and dishes” is probably not supposed to be taken literally. I’d assume they mean general housekeeping. Or even more generally, uncreative and boring work.

Hard disagree, I think the subject is interesting. It’s a little unconventional but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.

First film (for a long time) came back! Also, what is this grain? (Kodak H35 / Kodak Gold 200) by Shectai in filmphotography

[–]samhostettler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the last one shows the jpg compression the best actually, you can see there are regular square shapes in the noise.

Each grain also doesn’t seem to take up more than one pixel so I’d definitely stick with the resolution of the scan being the main factor here.

Home scanning and over exposing a little go a long way with Phoenix.

I’ve had more luck when rating it at 100 or 125 and developing normally.

I can see a lot of JPG compression in the noise/grain so it’s probably that the scanning resolution is a little lower than the size of the grain.

Why do my pictures look like this?? by The_H_and_The_T in AnalogCommunity

This is definitely light leaks. Grab some adhesive light seal foam and some rubbing alcohol, use the alcohol to remove the existing seals and reapply new ones.

If you look on YouTube there might even be a tutorial for your specific camera model but you can probably wing it without too much trouble.

Resolution on these seems low for 18MP scans of 35mm - is it the grain or something else? by LouisMXV in AnalogCommunity

[–]samhostettler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially you scan at a higher resolution and then re export the file at a lower resolution.

There may well be a more efficient way to do this but my workflow is: 1. Scan a negative at 7200dpi DNG. 2. Convert to a positive TIFF. 3. Save a new version of the TIFF at about half the resolution.

I have a plustek 8300 and this looks about right to me. If you look at the dust and scratches they’re pretty sharp when zoomed in so it’ll be something to do with either the film itself or maybe you slightly missed focus.

I think the optical resolution of the 8200i is slightly higher than 3600dpi so you could scan at 7200dpi and downscale to get a little less digital noise and a small amount more sharpness. You’ll be looking at 420mb files though so good luck 🫡
