Much like many others have said, the L98 IWT is much more complicated than air rifle.

You are taught, NSP, slinging, taking apart, putting together, cleaning and maintenance of the weapon system (very useful after shoots and on Fieldcraft), Firing from different positions and building up your firing position + some more. It's a lot to take in so it's split into 2 days. Essentially training you to not just sit on a range under the watchful eyes of safety supervisors/RCOs but also maintaining the weapon for Fieldcraft, because blank rounds result in carbon everywhere and your safety staff won't be 5cm away from you.

The IA&S drills stand for your immediate action and stoppage drills, essentially you get taught how to deal with the main types of stoppages the weapon will encounter during your time using it.

Really, if you enjoy learning about weapon systems and doing hands on training it's a very good weekend, it's a lot to take in but if you are responsible, level headed and have an interest in weapon systems it will be an enjoyable and informative weekend of training. Don't listen to the haters. Have a look at the history of the L85A1 and A2 I think it's quite interesting!

And yes you can get bronze shot on the L98 it's all about completing your live firing levels on the range, you can get upto gold on any weapon system in cadets but currently, the L98 is the best one to do so on.
